Phyllis Ann BRAMSON

I met Phyllis when I was lucky to welcome her as my UC Berkeley roommate at the AEPhi House, a former sorority turned housing for, I believe, 70 young men and women. What fun we all had! My nickname for Phyllis was Phyl Baby and I can tell you she made me laugh like no other! Her enthusiasm was so infectious and her accomplishments were inspiring. Phyllis is missed and remembered with admiration and love.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Phyllis' family. While I didn't know Phyllis, I was aware of her illness and courageous battle through her sister Carol.

I am terribly shocked and very sad to learn of Phyllis' illness and recent death. I worked with her in WIC for many years, and loved her energy, and openness. Her willingness to listen to all ideas and vet all possibilities was a welcomed style of leadership. She was a mentor to women in many ways. My condolences to Rachel and all those who were close to Phyllis. May her light shine through all of you.

She was the State WIC Director when I attended my first CWA State Conference, her passion and positive attitude to carry WIC to be better has kept me working for WIC all these 18 years, I wanted her back, R.I.P.

Rachel-I remember how very excited your Mom was when she was pregnant with you. She was so happy to have you at on site at work at the child care center. I had the honor of working with you Mom through WIC....my experience with her was that she was pretty fearless and she wanted the best for you....Her strength is now and always will be a part of you. I hold you and your Aunt and Uncle in my heart at this very difficult time of loss. Just one day at a time...that's all that is expected. In time, you will know happiness, again. We celebrate the child advocate we've lost prematurely. California and the nation are better because of her leadership and we will warrior on as she would expect! Peace......and healing to all who are saddened by the loss of Phyllis.

I worked with Phyllis at W.I.C. and got to know her on a long car trip to Toiyabe WIC and Inyo/Mono counties. She was a wonderful manager and fun travel companion, especially when we popped in a Marvin Gaye c.d.! She set the bar very high for us, and is an inspiration. Phyllis was a "Teal Sister"...I wish her peace on her next journey. My prayers are with her family.

It was my pleasure to serve on the Board of the National WIC Association when Phyllis was President. Through her leadership we moved to a more inclusive Board structure. I always appreciated and loved Phyllis' positive energy! Girl friend, you will be missed. Condolences to family and friends.
