I just learned about Phyllis' passing today and was perplexed why my attempts to reach her were left unanswered over the past four years. I am very sad to know she is no longer with us. I read Heidi's entry - I remember you bc we spent many days together with Paul, Megan and Phyllis in their home, and they in ours. Megan If you read this please give me a call at 602-292-1633. I want to express my condolences to you and share the many good memories I and family have of your mom and dad and you when you were a little girl.

I wrote this in a journal entry, but thought I would share this here: "My Aunt Phyllis passed away a couple of days ago, and I will admit, it hurt a bit. First my condolences to her friends and family- her daughter, her sister. You may be wondering 'family'? Yes, she was my aunt by marriage and while she and my uncle divorced years ago, she was ALWAYS my aunt. She and my uncle took me under their wing right out of high school. I was a scared kid moving across the country with dreams of finding a good job. Days before the internet, email, and mobile phones, they became second parents to me. My aunt was there (as were my own parents) to guide me from that scared small town girl to a young, successful woman. My aunt was one who often needed that sense of humor jar, but also someone you could talk hours to about art, philosophy, and politics. She often would give me sound advice and opinions- whether I wanted to hear them or not- she did it out of love. A bohemian woman with whom I envied her free spirit mind. As I entered into the professional world - a field that was predominantly male, it was my Aunt Phyllis who taught me to be a strong, fierce and independent woman in that field and to hold my own. We drifted apart for years, and would have an occasional phone call, facebook pop in, which consisted of 'how come you didn't call- you don't call enough!' Which I always replied, 'It works both ways.' She was the social butterfly to my lone wolf. But we knew we still loved each other... and she was such a rock. Rest in peace, Aunt Phyllis, and we shall meet again - although I probably still will not call enough. LOL"

Lauri Devine and I facilitated a couple of drum circles for the homeless at the church where Phyllis worked in Tempe. She later became a part-time member of our Ahwatukee Community Drum Circle until she moved back East. She had a kind heart and a wry sense of humor. She will be missed by all who crossed her path in life.

Phyllis had been part of a drum circle in Phoenix, AZ and we would gather at Lauri Devine's home. Phyllis was a very kind person and it was a pleasure knowing her. Sadly, Lauri Devine also passed in February, and I hope she and Phyllis are reunited in heaven today.
