Phyllis Heggem Harrison Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 8, 2026.
Phyllis Heggem Harrison, 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 5, 2026. She was born June 12, 1940.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Robert "Bob" Harrison; her children, Cheryllynn Wilkins (Steve), Richard Harrison, and Kathleen Freese, widow of the late Jeffrey Freese; her grandchildren, Sara Harrison, Amanda Rosenbrock (Dilynn), Jonathan Mullins, Katelynn Griffey (Ben), Ashley Neunreiter (Will), and Thomas Freese; and her great-grandchildren, Laney Harrison and Benjamin and Scarlett Rosenbrock.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W. Howard and Helen Heggem. After a difficult early childhood, she was adopted into the Heggem family, where she learned to sail and developed a lifelong love of the outdoors.

Phyllis earned a degree as an X-ray technician from William Jewell College. She and Bob were married in 1964 and lived in Arlington Heights, Illinois, for 50 years, spending many summers in Montello, Wisconsin, before moving to Baraboo, Wisconsin, in 2023.

Phyllis enjoyed music, the outdoors, Bible study, and spending time with friends and family. She shared her faith through music ministry in prisons and nursing homes and was a longtime member of Meadows Christian Fellowship Church in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.

Phyllis was a strong believer in Jesus Christ, and her faith and devotion to her family shaped her life.

Visitation will be held January 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Hill Bible Church in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to https://give.salvationarmyusa.org.

Aunt Phyllis always had a smile on her face. She loved playing with the kids in the sand on vacation at the Ozarks. Alligators were her specialty when designing animals in the sand. She was beautiful inside and out.

Phyllis will always hold a special place in my heart. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out!
She had a beautiful heart and soul. She was a very caring, loving, and giving person. She loved her children to the moon and back. She loved her husband with an unfailing passion and devotion. And she loved the Lord. She lived her life as a reflection of her Savior Jesus Christ.
Phyllis has left a lasting impression and a legacy of love for those of us fortunate enough to have known her.
Rest in peace Phyllis.
My heart knows you are in the arms of Lord Jesus Christ.
