Phyllis E Strickwerd Scheider Jones May 31, 1924 – November 18, 2010 Phyllis E Jones died at the age of 86 on November 18, 2010. Phyllis was born to Wilma and Joe Strickwerd in Portland Oregon. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and received her Registered Nurses pin and license while at the nursing school at Emanuel Hospital. Phyllis worked most of her entire career with Providence Medical Center beginning in 1961. She retired in 1986 as a surgical room nurse. In 1949, Phyllis married Robert E Jones in Eugene, Oregon, and had two children: Jeff and Steve. In 1958, Phyllis married Roy Scheider and spent two years living on the East Coast. In 1960, Phyllis returned to Portland, Oregon, with her boys to work and live close to family. Phyllis’s two main passions were being a mother and a nurse. She was a devoted and dedicated mother making sure her sons were well taken care of and introduced them to lifetime sports like skiing. She also loved her work in the medical field and was respected by all her co workers and doctors. Phyllis loved to read and listen to music. She also loved to travel taking numerous trips abroad seeing Italy, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Greece to name a few. Phyllis took great pleasure in documenting her travels both in writing and in pictures to share with family and friends. Phyllis spent her last years in the loving care of the Evergreen Health Center in Portland. Phyllis is survived by her sons, Jeff (Jill) and Steve (Cindy); her sister, Nancy Sager (Bill); four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many cousins and nieces and nephews. Her sister, Jean Lumber (Roy) passed away November 17, 2010. Arrangements entrusted to Finley Mortuary. A funeral service will be held 10:30 at Finely’s Sunset Hills on November 22, 2010.
