Phyllis McNamee Obituary
Violet Phyllis McNamee of Lethbridge, AB passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 at the age of 94 Years.
Phyllis was born near Burton-on-Trent in England to Joseph and Katherine Cooper. The family immigrated in 1928 to a beautiful farm on the Tobique River near Plaster Rock, New Brunswick.
Phyllis was one of the first women to join the Canadian Navy during World War II. There she met her husband, Lorne McNamee. They established their home in BC, spending fifty-two years in North Vancouver.
Phyllis is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Gaynel Day (Jim), her son, Graham McNamee (Debra Sneddon), her grandchildren Morgan Day (Aaron Stout), Brooke Day (Antonia Rudgard), and Connor McNamee. Bringing her great joy in the past ten months were her great-grandsons Cooper and Dixon Stout.
Phyllis's family is grateful to the doctors and staff at St. Therese Villa for caring for our mother and grandma.

Aunt Phyllis! I remember her fondly. Trips to North Van, or Uncle Loren and aunt Phyllis coming down to Bellevue to see us. What a very interesting bio! I´ve lost track of all of the McNamee side. Love to Gaynel and Graham! Kim McNamee Martin

To Gaynel, Graham & families ~ Wow, what a lovely long & blessed life your Mom had. Her pride in her family was always something I'll remember about being next-door neighbours with your family for SO many years.... that and her constant laugh! Your Mom & Dad both were true salt-of-the-earth, good people and I know her presence in your lives will be truly missed by all of you. So Sorry to hear about your Mom, my Aunt. She was an amazing lady.MY Mother Annie your mom's sister and your Mom visited me in Halifax many Year's ago of course they stayed at my house it was wonderful having both sisters together. We had lot's of laughs and they both shared many child hood stories with me. We took your Mom on a tour of Public Gardens and of course the Naval Dockyard and Peggy's Cove. She was in Halifax for a Naval Reunion she showed me all of her pictures from a book she had when she was in Basic Training at CFB Cornwallis it was so great. I will surely miss her.
