Phyllis Sorokan

Phyllis Sorokan 1922 2005 Phyllis Sorokan of Saskatoon, formerly of Alvena, SK passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Home on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at the age of 83 years. Prayers were held on Friday, July 29, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapel (311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon), led by Archdeacon Ray Lalach. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church (10th Street and Munroe Avenue, Saskatoon), Rev. Fr. Vlad Kolpakov, C.Ss.R., Celebrant. Phyllis is survived by her two sons, Morris (BettyAnn) Yuzik and Ernie (Irene) Yuzik, both of Saskatoon; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Larry Boyko of Rosthern, SK, Monica (Dean) Rhinas and their children, Lucas, Nicholas, Jenna of Saskatoon; Morris (Christine) Yuzik and their child, Jamie of Montreal; Brad (Michelle) Yuzik and their children, Joshua, Justine of Saskatoon; Corrine (Andrew) Retamal and their child, Garrett of Saskatoon; and Sherry Yuzik of Saskatoon; three sisters, Phyllis Sharanowski of Cudworth, and Olga Boychuk and Jean Pozniak, both of Saskatoon; one brother, John (Audrey) Matushewski of Saskatoon; and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by her husbands, John Yuzik (1964) and Nick Sorokan (1980); daughter, Sonnia (2001) and her husband, Ernie (1998) Boyko; parents, Anton (1942) and Mary (1976) (nee Yachniski) Matushewski; brothers, Joseph (1916), Michael in infancy; Stanley (1976); and sister, Albina Bilinski (1982). Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon. The family wish to thank the Sisters and staff of St. Joseph's Home for their patience and care of our loved one.
