Phyllis E. Wahlstrom

BREWSTER - Mrs. Phyllis E. (Modig) Wahlstrom, 88, died peacefully on Feb. 20, 2007, at Pleasant Bay Nursing Home. Her husband of 63 years, Carl Ray Wahlstrom, died in 2001.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carol P. Aro with whom she had recently resided, and Janet Whittier and her husband, Bill of Sutton; one sister, Bertha Larson formerly of Millbury; four granddaughters, Patricia Aro and Betsy Harton both of Eastham, Karen Whittier of Newburyport, and Christine Gustafson of Ossipee, N.H.; two great-grandchildren, Ryann and Max; and several nieces and nephews, as well as her long time friends, and neighbors Jean and Warren Senecal. She was predeceased by two brothers, William and Herbert Modig. Her third brother, Raymond Modig, just recently passed away March 1, 2007.

Phyllis was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Millbury, the daughter of Carl and Tekla (Lindgren) Modig, and lived there most of her life. Mrs. Wahlstrom was a sales associate at the former McInnis Department Store in Worcester.

She was a member of the Raymond Memorial Congregational Church in East Millbury, the Eastern Star affiliated with Olive Branch Lodge in Millbury, and several camping associations. She and her husband, Ray, enjoyed traveling in their Avion camper, many years wintering in Zephyrhills, Fla., and summering in Great East Lake, N.H. They also enjoyed bingo and playing cards with many friends at the Grafton Senior Center.

Private graveside services will be held in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. There are no calling hours.
