Phyllis Willey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 5, 2021.
Phyllis Willey died on September 19, 2019 at age 81 after a long illness. Phyllis Hale was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Jeanette Woods and Daniel Hale. She lived most of her life in Montgomery County, Maryland. She married Cordell B. Willey in 1966 and they became long-time residents of the Olney, Maryland community, having moved there in 1973.
Phyllis had a long career as an executive assistant at Hess Egan Hagerty & L'Hommedieu, Inc., an insurance and surety brokerage based in Chevy Chase. She fully enjoyed her profession and continued working until age 73.
Phyllis's husband died about six months later, in May of 2020. Phyllis and Cordell were interred together at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Maryland.

Wayne, on behalf of Cordell

November 7, 2021

Phyllis´s husband, Cordell, has also passed on. I was friend of Cordell´s for the last three years of his life and I think I can faithfully represent the thoughts he would express about Phyllis if he could.
He would first thank her for 53 years of a fulfilling marriage. He would say that he adored her and she was the most important part of his life. He would emphasize that when they learned she had developed a chronic fatal disease, he began hoping and praying that he would live long enough to take care of her. And last, he would express his sorrow and how much he missed her and that he was wondering how he could live without her.
We thank God for helping Cordell live long enough, in spite of his own medical problems, to be her caregiver to the end. May Phyllis and Cordell rest together in peace.
