PORFIRIO "PETE" CANALES
He was born on September 15, 1912, in Roma, TX to Zenon and Catalina Escobar Canales.
He was a retired auto mechanic, a member of Yoakum Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors: daughters, Mary Delia Linthacum of Corpus Christi and Dora Chapa Weston of Yoakum; grandchildren, Thomas Paul Canales of Somerset, NJ, and Cissi Ailene Rojas; great-grandchildren, Avery Celeste Rojas and Rebekah Grace Rojas of Kingsville, Elena Brianne Canales and Austine Paul Canales of Somerset, NJ; sister, Adela Rivera; brothers, Guadalupe Canales and Ernesto Canales all of Alice, TX.
Preceded in death by: parents; wife, Julia Canales; sisters, Josefa Buenteo, Antonia Moreno and Casianna Canales; brothers, Mauricio Canales, Gregorio Canales and Arturo Canales.
Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Huehlefeld officiating. Entombment at St. Joseph Mausoleum.
Pallbearers: Ray Canales, Joe A. Canales, Guadalupe Canales, Jr., Ramiro Vela, Jr., Walter Elizondo and Thomas Canales.
Honorary pallbearers: Nieces, nephews, Dr. David Watson and The Yoakum Volunteer Fire Department and EMS.
Memorials may be given to Yoakum Volunteer Fire Department or the donor's choice.
