Writing this on behalf of my mother. My Mom loved one man consistently throughout her life. Porter Wagoner is the name all 5 of us children grew up knowing! We took her to Nashville and to the gravesite. It was then that she asked to be left alone for a while. We watched from a distance, his headstone not in place yet, she cleared off grass around his wife's headstone and then sat on the ground. We could see her talking, but unknown what was said. Mom passed May of 2015. Her request for Porter's "Satisfied Mind" played. I have to believe, he was one of the many that greater her into God's Kingdom. God Bless the family of the Man who owned my Mama's heart.

Dearest Porter, I was blessed to have called you my friend. You called me your buddy. Now, in Heaven, I'm sure you realize how truly important you were to me. Those years I visited your performances, I will always cherish. I found out about your passing too late to make arrangements to "see you away" to our Lord. I know my parents are enjoying your company there. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you, your wise words, quick wit & warm friendly manner & the beam of your disarming smile. I listen to your recordings often & reflect. God Bless Debra, Denise, Richard, & your loved ones. I will always love you too, my friend- "D"

For Porter...Remembered are
you many moments as a
Grand Ole Opry Star. Your effort
in launching Dolly Parton is
another gift from you that keeps
on giving.
WEEP NOT FOR ME
Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.
Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.
I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.
Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.
Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.
Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

I grew up watching Porter Wagoner, at my Grandmother's house, on Saturday afternoons. I would tag a long with my Dad to my Grandmother's, so that he could mow her lawn, and she and I would watch Porter Wagoner's Show and the Wilburn Brother's Show. We had a grand time together watching those shows. All of these country music entertainers and legends are sadly missed today. Thank you, Porter Wagoner, for all of your many years of dedicated service to the country music industry.

To Porter's family, I was shocked to hear of his death. I loved watching him as a young girl in the 60's. His show was down home type of entertainment and I loved to hear he and Dolly sing their duets. He will be sorely missed. I still watch his old shows on RFD channel. He was a great entertainer. As a child, I lived in a small town.
We did not have a TV antenna and we only got 1 TV station. Every Saturday afternoon, I watched the Porter Wagoner Show. I had often hoped that in my lifetime I could have met him or just written him a letter to let him know how much I loved his music. When I think of my childhood, one of the things that comes to mind right away is Porter Wagoner.
I hope that someday his TV shows will be available on DVD.
Porter may be gone, but his music and legacy will live on forever. I shall never forget him.
