To Pat and families-
Our sympathies for your loss. Prudence was a voice for the voiceless in the face of human rights for all, and made such an impact on so many lives.

Dear Pat,

Roberta and I were greatly saddened to learn today of Prue's death. Please accept our sincere condolences with apologies for not sending you a hardcopy card, but I'm not sure we have your correct address any longer.

Prue has been an iconic presence in my life, ever since I met her. She was one of the most extraordinarily self-aware and other-aware people I have ever known. She was such a gentle and kind soul, even (and perhaps especially) when confronting others with truths about themselves that might have been hard to hear.

Since leaving Ottawa, even when I no longer saw her on a regular basis, she remained so present for me. I can't tell you how often I channeled her during difficult conversations -- I used to ask myself "What would Prue say in this situation?" In those moments, she helped me be a better human being.

Roberta and I have always been inspired by your relationship, too. It's not always easy being in a committed relationship, even when you love each other deeply. Even harder in a same-sex relationship, where the support from the outer world isn't always there. Somehow just knowing that you two DID it so well made it easier for us, too.

Knowing she is gone leaves a big hole in my psyche, but I am also so grateful to have known her, and to have known you both.

I know it's a cliche, especially given how far away we are geographically, but if there is anything we can do, please let us know. If you ever want to come to Victoria, we would love to have you stay with us.

Love, Katherine & Roberta

Pat, I am so sorry. Although I knew Prue before we found ourselves in the same group at BNR, it was in working with her that I came to understand her best. I remember so well trying to learn to do what she did and being in complete awe of her poise, self-confidence, infinite curiosity and intellectual fearlessness. There were times, both professional and personal, when she took me under her wing. That was a very safe place to be, under Prue's wing. Sending you my love.

Dear Pat, We are saddened to read that Prue has passed away. We have so many warm memories of sharing a house with both of you on Third Ave. We know the strong, loving bond you had with each other and it is difficult to imagine she is not here as part of your union, though your memories will live on. We were very happy to read about Prue's full life, a model for us all! Please know we are thinking of you at this difficult time. Warm regards. Lori and John

Sending you my love Pat, Brian and family! I am so saddened by this news! She will be missed. Prue was a loving, and very bright woman ahead of her time! I have such fond memories of our days at Trent! With love from Liz & Mike O'Dwyer. p.s. I plan to attend the Celebration of her life in April with Mom and Catherine! xo

Prue's wisdom, support and subtle sense of humour during our time together in "the halcyon days of BNR and Nortel" are memorable all these years later. Deep sympathies to Pat and the family.
