Qian Liu Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 25, 2011.
Suddenly on April 15, 2011 in Toronto. Loving daughter of Professor Liu Jianhui and Zheng Yaru.

Liu Qian came to Canada at the age of 23, with a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication from Beijing City University, planning to upgrade her English in order to study at the Master's level. She was among a small group of her peers with backgrounds in humanities, communications, art, or music, attempting to find graduate programs in these fields. This ambition calls for higher English proficiency than is required for technical and mathematical fields. Liu Qian, however, was ambitious, determined, and hard-working, and her instructors believed that she was very close to succeeding. She had already achieved the required English score for admission to graduate programs; only three percent of students in China achieve a score as high as hers.

Some people believe that the life of an international student studying English far from home must be lonely and difficult, but this was not true of Qian. She made many friends, and had many around her who cared very much for her. She is remembered as someone who loved colour, and who painted the space around her with colors of passion, intensity, and expression. She is already much missed by her classmates, teachers, and friends.

Friends may visit the Jerrett Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge Street (two lights south of Steeles, on the east side) on Wednesday April 27, 2011, from 9:00 to 10:00 am. A funeral service will commence at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel. Private cremation to follow.

I'm very sorry for what happened to you Qian! Life truly is not fair and you did not deserve this.
And although it can't bring you back, I hope justice prevails.
My heart goes out to you, your family and friends.
Rest in Peace!!! xo

A Reminiscence

YES, thou art gone! and never more
Thy sunny smile shall gladden me;
But I may pass the old church door,
And pace the floor that covers thee.

May stand upon the cold, damp stone,
And think that, frozen, lies below
The lightest heart that I have known,
The kindest I shall ever know.

Yet, though I cannot see thee more,
'Tis still a comfort to have seen;
And though thy transient life is o'er,
'Tis sweet to think that thou hast been;

To think a soul so near divine,
Within a form so angel fair,
United to a heart like thine,
Has gladdened once our humble sphere.

Warm Summer Sun

Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.

May you be one of God's brightest angel. No explanation for such a tragedy. I am sure she is in a better place than this world will ever by. I believe she was a wonderful person. I am so anguished by her parent's pain. May you rest in peace.
