I feel very fortunate to have known George. He always had a warm smile and a kind word. He always kind of reminded me of Jimmy Stewart. My mother, Mary and I had the pleasure of spending Christmas Day with him and the family at Richard and Adrian's home. It was a great chance to spend time with him. He will be missed.

To the family of R. George Cunningham:
As an undergraduate in architecture at Rice, I studied under George: he was a wise and genial presence who showed us how structural engineers worked. Our courses could have used more 'hands on' science of building so George's guidance was vital. He will be missed by all who listened to the soft Texas twang of a good and kindly teacher and professional.
