RaAnn (Ranie) Yeates, age 44, passed away peacefully at her home Aug. 7, 2009. She was born April 18, 1965, in Salt Lake City at Cottonwood Hospital to Charles Duane Crossen and Margaret Hardman Crossen. Ranie grew up in Providence and Benson, Utah. She attended school at Providence Elementary, South Cache Junior High and graduated from Sky View High School. After high school, she met and found her true love, Brian Casey Yeates, and married him on Nov. 10, 1984. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Jeffery Brian Yeates and Kaysie Jessica Yeates. Jessica was and is a mother's dream. To look into the face of your child and see yourself is such a wonderful blessing. She is the image of her mother and reminds us all of how beautiful Ranie was inside and out. Jeff inherited her strength of character which she was very proud of. His independent, fearless nature was and is her. After the children moved away, her dog Jack became her most endeared friend. Ranie was the first to laugh, the first to cry and, most importantly, the first to give to those in need. Anyone and everyone who met her loved her. She was so very talented. She loved wood crafting and created many beautiful gifts for her family. Ranie loved the outdoors and chose to work outdoors for a profession. She worked hard her whole life and truly enjoyed her last few years working as a sexton for Smithfield City, taking exceptional care of the cemetery. She took great pride in her work and her life, everything she did. Out her back window were her horses and her dogs and any fortunate stray that lucked across her doorstep. Friends, neighbors and family were always welcome. She loved to spend time laughing and playing league pool with Uncle Reid and her husband Casey. Her one and only sister, Kathy, was her hero. They were always there for each other and forever will be. Most of all she loved to spend time with her dad fishing at the secret places only they shared and knew, becoming best friends and laughing in the pure enjoyment that only comes from being father and daughter. Our loss is great, but we know she is where she needs to be and most wants to be, with her mom. She loved life. Ranie was and always will be the spark that ignited the love that glowed in the souls of all who knew her. Most of all, she loved her husband Casey. Inseparable from the beginning, they celebrated life every day, loving each other fiercely and never letting go. They toiled to create the beautiful relationship they had. They were true soulmates and forever will be. Her dream was to go to Alaska. Now she can go anywhere she wants. We believe she is there laughing and playing and fishing, teasing Casey, "Hey love, I caught the biggest fish, I caught the most, you better watch out for Jon. Hurry catch up to me, I miss you. I miss you all," we can hear her say. God speed strong one, we all miss you and love you until we meet again, goodbye. Ranie is survived by her father Duane (Afton) Crossen of Providence; her husband Casey of Clarkston; children: Jeffery Brian Yeates of Logan; Kaysie Jessica Yeates of Lyman, Wyo.; her dog, Jack; her uncles, Reid W. Nilson; Lynn Hardman; and one grandchild, Kayden. She is also survived by a sister, Kathy Hervey; aunts: Helen Mills, Margene Hardman; nieces: Jolene Ann Hervey, Katie Lynn Tysver and Danielle Dee Lundberg ; a cousin, Michael Nilson; stepsister, Suzanne (Eric) Apelskog; and stepbrother, Dan Mariott. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Crossen; grandfather, Harvey Hardman; an aunt, Lavon (Bonnie) Hardman; and cousins: Johnny R. Nilson and Jason Nilson. A graveside service will be held at noon Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at the Smithfield City Cemetery, 300 E. Center Street, Smithfield, Utah. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com.

Dear Yeates Family,
I haven't seen RaAnn for quite some time. I worked with her at Cache Valley Cheese several years ago. I have a lot of fond memories of working with her and calling her friend. I was sad to hear of her passing. I wish your family peace and comfort. I also want you to know she was loved where ever she went.
My prayers are with you

Casey,

It has been quite a while, but the past is rushed forward when reading of life's very bumpy trials. You have my deepest sympathy, and I pray you will find solace and comfort as you move forward.
My experience is that you will be comforted and enjoy the support of the Spirit at this time in your life.

Dear Yeates and Crossen family,
My love and prayers go out to all of you. I met Ranie when I was 16 years old, and I remember riding to school with her my sophomore year. Lots and lots of great memories of this wonderful woman. What beauty and strength she had! And the love she had for her family was immense. My heart and soul grieve for the loss of an old, dear friend, but I know she is smiling down on us all, and she is very content being up there with her mother. How I will miss my friend of many, many years. I love you Ranie!

I would just like to say how sorry i am for your loss of such a amazing person and cant believe she is gone. I have known Ranie since I was very young and as a teenager she would tag team me with sweet Kathy to try and keep me in line and always there to give great motherly advise and some tongue lashing when needed also. As a adult she has always taken the time to show interest in how i turned out and tell me she was pround of me. Rainie and Kathy were great examples to me growing up and I love them both for that. Jeff and Jessica thanks for sharing your moms love I wish you two much comfort to know she is ok.
