I was saddened to hear of Raye's death. I count myself extremely fortunate to have met Raye 5 years ago and attended several Cross events with her. She was an outstanding leader and community builder with amazing energy. I wish I had known her in her younger days. The Cross Cancer Institute, its patients & families are so thankful that 48 years ago Raye saw the value of volunteers suporting cancer patients that she helped form the first Auxillary. An Auxillary that has grown to a force of over 400 volunteers that provide 25+ programs daily to support the Cancer community. She has left an amazing legacy, and she will be remembered and missed.

The Cross Cancer Institute Volunteer Association was saddened to hear of Raye (as we knew her) Dolgoy's passing. In 1963 Raye and a group of 24 volunteers formed the Auxiliary to the Edmonton Cancer Clinic. Today, the Volunteer Association is made up of approximately 400 volunteers and Raye was designated as our first Honorary Member. Last year the Association launched a Student Award Program for students who volunteered at the Cross and we were very proud to name the program "The Raye Dolgoy Student Volunteer Award. Raye will be remembered for her compassion and caring for others. She will be missed.
