Rachael Lillis, a voice actress best known as the voices of Misty and Jessie in the hit animated series "Pokémon," died August 10, 2024, in Los Angeles. She died of breast cancer at the age of 55.
Born in Niagara Falls, New York, Rachael Lillis always had her eye on using her vocal skills in her career, but her initial training was in opera, not voice work. She also studied theater and acting, however, and instead of singing on stage, she soon found herself doing voice acting for anime shows and video games.
Lillis became a part of millions of childhoods in 1998, when she began doing voices on the show “Pokémon.” With Lillis playing the iconic characters of Misty, Jessie, and others in over 400 episodes, the series became a huge global phenomenon, and she provided voices on the show and its subsequent spinoff movies for well over a decade.
Pokémon wasn’t the only popular show Lillis worked on. She provided voices for “Berserk,” “Genshiken,” “Sonic X,” “The Slayers,” “Winx Club,” and many others.

I remember all the joy her talent brought to my son. He is sad that he never got to meet her. He wrote a beautiful tribute for her after her passing. We would love to share it with her family and friends, but don't know how to get it to them. We hope that she knows how much she meant to him. Also, does anyone know the information regarding the memorial in Texas? Rest in peace Rachel. We miss you!
