Rachel Dobscha Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 10 to Mar. 11, 2023.
Rachel Ann Dobscha, 82, of Fishers (Indianapolis), passed away on February 19, 2023, with her family by her side.

Rachel was born in Bath, New York, to the late Joseph and Norma Clemans. She graduated from Carmel Junior and Senior High School in 1958 and received a Registered Nursing degree from Ball Hospital School of Nursing - Ball State College in 1961. Rachel was a dedicated pediatric nurse for 40 years.

Mom was a wanderer. She lived in Michigan, Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, Montana, and Virginia before returning to Indianapolis. When she got to Santa Fe, she fell in love with the American Southwest and felt a deep appreciation of the people, art, and culture. She stayed for over a decade. Rachel loved all forms of art, particularly Chihuly glass and bronze sculpture, and was skilled in knitting and crocheting.

Rachel is survived by her two children Geoff and Heidi. Our mother was a kind, caring, and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. As a single parent, she worked hard to make sure we had a "good childhood" and didn't miss our absent father. Mom was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. Our mother was a source of inspiration to us and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched. She passed on her appreciation of music and books and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

Mom was predeceased by her parents and older brothers Truman and Don Clemans. She shared an unbreakable twin-bond with her surviving sister Ruth. Ruth and sister-in-law Linda are now the matriarchs of the clan. In her final years, Mom was surrounded by and enjoyed the company of her sister Ruth, her daughter Heidi, and nieces and nephews Kim (Dave), Laura, Breanna, and Kingston.

Burial will take place at a future date. Mom's final resting place will be with her family at Dale Cemetery in Connersville, IN. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to local food charities that support children.
