Professor McCulloch was my faculty advisor and one of my favorite professors when I studied at Brandeis. She gave me advice that had a great influence on my life and career. Ever since I graduated we kept in touch through email sharing all kinds of things. I feel so sad to lose such a great mentor and friend in life...

I just learned about this. Rachel was my very closest friend at grad school in Chicago, and one of the most
remarkable people I have ever known. So many memories...,

Rachel and I knew each other for decades beginning in Jr. High School in Phila., PA. We remained connected in casual ways through many years. When my son graduated from Brandeis University Rachel walked in her honorary robes in his graduation. A few days ago I decided to google her, stunned I read of her death. In my life I was connected in some way to a few people from my Jr. High School years in Philadelphia, PA. Rachel being one. I remember going to Rachels parents furrier parents, fortunate to have immigrated to our country from Vienna. Linda I am sorry for your loss of Rachel. Laura Gehl, I have gone to Barnes & Nobles book store in Rittenhouse, Phila., PA and read your childrens books. For Gary Chamberlain, PhD., I am deeply sorry for your loss of Rachel. She rests in peace having given much back to the world. .

She was an outstanding person on multiple levels. I miss her terribly. I was one of the first students of Brandeis PhD program she created. I will carry the torch and be a good economist, stay strong as Rachel was, and make her proud. She is still with us. Rachel, I miss you. Please guide us from the distance.

Rachel was my friend from graduate school at the University of Chicago. We stayed in touch over the years and I always marveled at her intellect, humor and balance in life. I will miss her.

Rachel was a member of our Boston Area University of Chicago Book Club. She joined us after she retired from Brandeis. She was a dear friend, a careful reader who shared with us her many insights and her sense of wonder at each new book's revelations. We learned so much from her. Alas, the time was too short!

Our hearts go out to Gary and the family.

Rachel was my first cousin, and what I am most sad about, is that we lived on different continents throughout our lives, and I therefore never got to know her well.
Heartfelt condolences and love to all the family.
