I just learned about professor Fudala passing. I took him for microbiology and he was the best professor!! He was so funny and so much great energy. My deepest condolences to his family. My heart is shattered, but knowing that professor is in a better place puts my heart at ease.

In 8 years I never had an interaction with Rafal that did not include some laughter. Sometimes it was light-hearted and other times it was sarcastic and ironic, but it is such a gift to have known someone who really and truly did brighten up a room. His passion for his work and students was second only to his love for his family and when each of the kids were born he just blossomed. I will miss him.

Rafal showed extraordinary and unwavering commitment to the study of the life sciences, the pursuit of knowledge, and all of his students. I will especially remember him for his spirit of friendship, the upbeat and positive attitude that he always brought with him, and his marvelous sense of humor. His light has gone from this world much, much too soon. He will be sadly missed, but remembered always.

Prof., as I call him, the news of your demise took me by a big surprise.
You mixed these two aspects well : firmly urging us to do our best with an all serious tone, and at the same time expressing deep fatherly and protective concern for our affairs.
I will miss hearing the quick ' How are you doing Hope ? '
'How is your project going ? '
anytime I pass around your office. You will be missed. The Lord grant you rest.
I pray God's comfort for the entire family - especially Dr. DS & Kids.

I only had one class with you during our first year of core classes in PhD program. Even though I didn´t have a chance to have many interactions with you after that, I know that you are a funny, kind, generous, and supportive teacher and mentor. Your humorous exchanges with Dr. Berg made us the first year students so much more relaxed and ready to take on the lessons during those virtual classes back in 2020. I am grateful for your teaching and devastated that you won´t be in this world anymore. You will be loved and missed by all of us students who got the honor to get to know you. Fly high Dr. Fudala! The sky has gained another angel.

I am so regret even though we work in the same institute for more than 10 years but I never have a chance to speak a single word with you although I talked with Dorota regularly especially at the time she had pregnancy with Alexander and Timothy. However, I am sure every day when I park my car and walking into UNTHSC you are among us: people from all around the world who love science and make the decision to devote their whole life to fight aging, cancer, diabetes, glaucoma, Alzheimer disease and improve the lives of others. I cannot imaging now you are no longer here....tears in my eyes. I am so impressed that you are such a great family man, good friend, impactful teacher, gifted and a passionate scientist and you love science so much that you even donated your body to the medical education and research. Nevertheless, I am sure your spirit will always with us along with several other scientists from UNTHSC who did research and education until the last minute of their life. May you rest peacefully in heaven! I will remember you every independent day. I will tell Alexander and Timothy that their father was such a great person and a talented scientist. We will remember and miss you forever here at UNTHSC. May God give the comfort and strength to Dorota, Alexander and Timothy at this difficult time!

I only knew you for a year, but the impact of your spirit and energy will forever be a part of me. As I walk through the halls of UNTHC, I still expect to see you walking hurriedly to one of your many duties. My mind cannot understand that I won´t see you anymore, but my heart knows that your spirit lives on in the hallways, classrooms, presentation halls, and break rooms of UNTHC. In fact, my last interaction with you was when you became a citizen of this great country. Thank you, Rafal, for allowing me to spend one last time with you and memorializing that event with a pic that will forever be treasured.
