On the radio yesterday. I always called him Buckly. I had so much to learn. He had this old artists kit in a box with all the dried pigments in glass vials and he loved it so. We all are insecure and I handled my insecurities by painting on the floor. I have so many fun and funny stories of him. I just retired from teaching art in Dade County. Buckley gave me so much to think about, and a lot of what he said I passed on to my students. Buckley was more than a professor, he was a friend. He got me up from the floor, and he taught me how to stand. It was yesterday, and yet so long ago.

I am so very sorry to the family. I have so many wonderful memories from that studio that run the gamut of hearing how my friend lost a piece of his finger, baby showers, being hypnotized by the sight of liquid metal pouring out of the crucible, listening to a friend's band play the GREATEST version of Sweet Home Alabama and the fortune of meeting so many amazingly talented and good people from around the world. Buckley is the force that united us all. Every Spring I am reminded of the wood table on the back, smelling like Cuban coffee and sweeping compound, and how there would always be a bouquet of cherry blossoms. I think I looked forward to that sprig of flowers more than a Christmas tree! Thank you so much Professor Buckley! Thank you for letting me be a studio groupie and letting me feel welcome and at home in yours. Xoxoxo

I was in shock when I heard the news. He was a special guy and an amazing artist. It's truly a loss that he won't be able to share his beautiful art with us anymore.

My deepest condolences to the family. This news has saddened me greatly. Buckley could be stubborn & moody sometimes :) but nothing could overshadow the fact that he had a heart of gold. My best memories from FIU involve being around the sculpture studio and interacting with Buckley. I respected his opinion and cared for him very much. I will hold a special place in my heart for him. Sending everyone a warm hug and hoping all affected can get through this difficult time with peace in your hearts.
