WEYMOUTH Ralph B. Farrar, Jr., age 88, of Weymouth, formerly of Jamaica Plain passed away on June 29, 2009 at the South Shore Hospital. Ralph was born in Boston, raised and educated in Jamaica Plain. Resident of Weymouth for the past 54 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran WWII and also U.S. Army Veteran Korean War. Retired in 1982 as a Lineman with New England Telephone Co. Ralph was volunteer with South Shore Hospital with over 35,000 hours of service. His love and joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren Beloved husband of Joanne (Toner) Farrar. Loving father of Andrew K. Farrar, Sr. and his wife Claire M. of Weymouth, Richard D. Farrar and his wife Kathleen of Carver, David M. Farrar and his wife Virginia of GA. Ralph was the brother of four sisters. Devoted grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Proud grandfather of the late Sergeant Andrew K. Farrar USMC. Funeral from the McDonald Funeral Home, SO. Weymouth, at 809 Main St. (Rt. 18 Opp. So. Sh. Hospital) Friday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, So. Weymouth at 10:00 a.m. and interment will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ralphs memory to the Volunteers of South Shore Hospital, C/o South Shore Hospital, 55 Fogg Rd., So. Ralph's enthusiasm for volunteering at South Shore Hospital was unmatched. With his broad smile and warm, upbeat personality, no one was better suited to welcome patients and visitors. He was a great guy and will certainly be missed.

Working at South Shore Hospital for many years, I remember seeing Ralph's cheerful face and always giving a big welcome to anyone who walked in the door. Condolences to the family.

Sorry to hear about M. Farrar's passing. I know he will be missed by his family and all that knew him. He was a great guy always willing to give you his time.

I am also sorry I was not able to make it up there to be with all of you. This is one of the unfortunate things about living down here. My thoughts are with you.
