Ralph C. Owens of Wilmington passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022. He was born on December 28, 1953, to the late Jot and Ruby Owens, Jr in New Bern, NC. Ralph was raised in the Wrightsville Beach Community area and grew up watching his father work as a local dredge boater. He ultimately became a structural steel welder and worked in the family business, O & M Dredging. For the last 20 years he has worked as a project manager for Southern Industrial at G.E. in Castle Hayne. Unlike most people who can’t wait to leave work Ralph lived to work. He came early and stayed late. Ralph did enjoy his free time, and spent it grilling, playing tennis, bird watching, gardening. Ralph was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing in the annual G.E. golf tournament.
In addition to his parents Ralph was preceded in death by his sister, Anne Margaret Owens. He is survived by his son, Brandon Owens of Wilmington; lifetime partner, Carolyn Whitehead of Wilmington; siblings, Jot Owens, III and his partner, Susan Dupuis of Wilmington, Frances Kramer and her husband, Peter of Scotts Hill and Edward Walker Owens of Hawaii and his furry protector Taffy.
A memorial service for Ralph will be held at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 514 S. College Rd, Wilmington, at 1pm on Monday, March 14, 2022. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Diabetes.org

Ralph was a good man, talented, hard-working, dependable and humble. Could always count on him, no job was too big or too small, he took care of them all and took the time to share a laugh, just to lighten everyone's day. He has been a good friend to me for the past 12 years and will be missed.
