I was sad to learn of Ralph's passing this week. Our connection is through the Olympians Club committee that we were involved with together for a number of years. Ralph was proud Olympian 148, a real inspiration to many NZ Olympians to follow. He truly lived by the motto 'Once an Olympian, always an Olympian', giving back to his sport of yachting in particular, for decades after he competed in the Olympics in the 60's.
The NZ sports community will miss a real gentleman.
Condolences to Penny and the family.

It was with deep sadness that I read of Ralph's passing. Although, since moving to Napier 20 years ago. we have not been in touch, Ralph and I knew each other well and my memories go back to school days. He was an inspiration to many with his achievements. My sincere condolences to all the family at this sad time.

Ralph I will remember you with the utmost affection as my neighbour for 20 years and because of the memories you invoke. You always reminded me so much of my Dad with your kindness, quick wit and your smile.
Thankyou for being a great mentor to our daughter Becky, who also treasured your kindness and advice in life.
I know so many people will miss you and you will remain in my thoughts though every time I see a photo of my Dad.
All our love, wherever you are.

Dear Penny and family
It was with much sadness I learned of Ralph's passing. I would describe Ralph as a friend, an encourager, a wise man, an enthusiast, a motivator . As a fellow Olympian we shared many great memories, and Ralph was a huge and positive contributor to the NZ Olympians committee on which we both served
His ready smile, and willingness to contribute and share his extensive sporting knowledge made him an outstanding Olympian and dear friend
My condolences to Penny and the family at the passing of a great man
