Colleen Brown, 57 of Pampa, Texas passed away at University Medical Center in Lubbock on January 20, 2024. She was born March 17, 1966 in Clovis, NM. She is the daughter of Raymond Clifford and Joyce Juanita (Hume) Brown. Colleen grew up in Fort Sumner, she attended Fort Sumner Schools graduating with the class of 1984. She participated in band while in high school. Colleen was also active in 4-H, F.F.A., showing livestock. As a teenager she worked at Dariland in Fort Sumner. While living in Fort Sumner she volunteered as an EMT with Fort Sumner Ambulance Service.

Colleen attended Central Texas College in Killeen, TX and Eastern NM University. She received her Certified Nursing Assistant degree and worked at De Baca General Hospital, Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales, and worked as a travel nurse. Colleen loved to help people, she completed her LPN degree and continued her nursing career helping others. She was currently employed with Children’s Home Health Care of Amarillo. 

Colleen married Harold Edwards on May 15, 1992. They later divorced. Colleen made her home in Fort Sumner, Portales, Fort Hood, TX, Fort Carson, CO, Colorado Springs, CO before moving to Panhandle, TX.

She enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, crocheting, painting nature scenes and animals, loved to read a good book, and playing board and card games with her family. She loved getting to spend time with her grandchildren and playing with her two dogs. Her family was most important to her along with her longtime friend and bestie, Missy Bridges.

Colleen was a member of First Baptist Church in Portales and a past member of First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Joyce Brown, a nephew Joshua Crispin, and a brother Raymond Brown Jr.

Survivors include three children, a son Jesse Davis (Marina) of Navarre, Florida, two daughters Heidi Brown of Fort Sumner and Amber Burrows (Dalton) of Pampa, Texas. Also surviving are two grandchildren Isabella and Jeremiah Davis of Navarre, Florida along with seven siblings, Paulene (Herbert) Finney of Fort Sumner, Linda (Cotton) Boyd of Fort Sumner, Joe (Brenda) Felty of Clovis, Rita (Ralph) York of Fort Sumner, Elaine (Ken) Roberts of Midland, TX, Ronnie Brown of Albuquerque, and Robert Brown of Albuquerque along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation hours will be Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 1pm to 6pm at the Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, New Mexico. (575) 355-2311.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 26, 2024 at The Church on The Hill, 25203 US 84, Fort Sumner, NM with Dave McFadden of Portales officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Jimmy Lovorn, Rayland Lovorn, Dwayne Finney, Austin Finney, Justin Boyd, Jason Felty, Ken Roberts, and Jaron Jones. Honorary bearers will include Missy Bridges and all her many nursing friends and co-workers.
