Dear Ram Bhaiji:
You descended in our world from your heavenly abode with your closed fists 1 and now you have ascended back to your heavenly abode with your fists open2 joining your life- long partner Ashaji.
First I met you, Ashaji- our Bhabiji, and three young daughters Rekha, Bindu, and Sheila in late November 1967 when you used to live on Bateman Crescent. Of course, you taught us how to live in Saskatoon, indeed a very cold place but with very warm hearts (warm cold place).
You at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon illuminated the hearts of your students with humanistic type of mathematics, especially in the field of discrete mathematical formulation. A world-wide reception of your research publications and text book in mathematics is a symbol of your research contributions to our scientific world.
Well, now you have gone back to your heavenly abode, but you have left behind your inspiring smiles in the hearts of our Saskatoon community.
Your family and friends will miss your physical presence, but they know that you and Asha Bhabiji are watching us from your heavenly abode showering upon us your good wishes.
May the Almighty grant peace to your soul in heavenly abode!!

Yours loving,
Madan & Suman Gupta

Closed fists 1 = bringing fortunes in this world;
Fists open2 = leaving fortunes that one has earned during his life time in this world.
