Randall "Randy" Deaver Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 7, 2021.

Randal Stuart Borden Deaver, 65, of Madison passed away peacefully at his home April 7, 2020. Randy was born November 21, 1954 in Moberly, Missouri to Noland and Lillian (Borden) Deaver. He attended school in Paris, Missouri and graduated in 1972. He attended Linn Tech and received his degree in Auto Body Repair. On March 5th, 1990, he married Margaret Houston in Shelbyville, Missouri.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Keith and Kelly Deaver, and his cousin Lois Ann Deaver. Randy is survived by his wife Margaret, his two children Noland “Ryan” Deaver of Washington D.C., Hannah Deaver (Brandon Barton) of Columbia, Missouri, his sister Ruthanne Hause (Alan Hause) of Albany, California, his brother Richard Deaver (Gloria Deaver) of Holiday, Missouri, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Randy always had a taste for adventure and knowledge, and pursued both by traveling and being an incredibly avid reader, never going anywhere without a book in hand. Throughout his life, he traveled across the country to visit some of the greatest wonders in the United States. Whether it be by hitchhiking to California as a teenager or taking road trips with his children, he always found joy on the open road and meeting new people.

Randy worked most of his life in Monroe County as a carpenter for Deaver Construction. Part of his creativity to build also manifested as a desire to restore things of the past. Randy in his free time loved to restore old cars and toys as well as fly his ultralight airplane. He was also passionate about music and worked tirelessly to ensure that his children did as well.

Randy was always willing to help something or someone in need. He was always one of the first to help someone regardless of who they were or what they've done. He loved helping the underdog and absolutely refused anything in return. He was incredibly passionate about animals. He showed compassion for every living creature that he crossed and many (so so so many) of which have found themselves living on his farm for the remainder of their lives.

Above all else Randy loved his family and his children. Everything that he loved and valued, he wanted to instill within them as his legacy, and did so through his actions in the life he shared with them.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Madison Area Community Center from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  All donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, the Multiple Sclerosis Association, or the Columbia Missouri Humane Society.
