Randy became a great friend when we were both in the US Army at Fort Lewis, WA around 1975. He was relaxed and friendly and always willing to help a friend in any way he could. So sorry to hear of his untimely passing, condolences to his family.

Met Randy in umpire school. Great guy ! I remember looking out my window one morning and seeing Randy doing yoga or some martial arts stretching in the parking lot right along Daytona Beach.
Visited his house once on Longboat Key. I wish I could chat with him for a while. He is missed.

Words cannot express the loss that we are all feeling at this time. I had the honor of working with Randy at Ballard where he was the AP. Randy always became excited when he found out what I was directing for the musical of the year, and I believe he came to every performance that we had. Randy always took the time to help anyone and everyone that needed a hand, a true example of a gentleman. RIP my friend

When we were in the 2nd grade I had the chicken pox over Valentines Day and Randy brought me home my shoe box full of valentines. He was always the sweetest boy and grew to be a wonderful man. My prayers are with Anne and Vern at this heart breaking time.

I had the honor of working with him as our AP at Daughtrey. I know there are not words to help your hearts heal right now, but please know that this amazing man will be remembered forever by those that knew him and the lives he has forever impacted in the community. He was an amazing man with a gentle, caring, giving heart. The world has lost a wonderful person but we have gained an amazing angel for I have no doubt that he is at peace now. He always was so concerned about how others were doing and what he could do to help. There are not many people that give so freely of themselves. I pray for peace for your family through this difficult time.

I attended umpire school with Randy and the Gulf Coast League in 1981. Although I'd only seen him 2 or 3 times in the last 30 years he was always a good friend. He will be missed.

My wife and I offer our deepest sympathy to Randy's family. I had the good fortune to work several games with Randy in 2003 and 2004. Randy was a gem to work with, so helpful in supporting and teaching new umpires. A real gentleman. - John Zavacky, Bradenton, FL

I was one of the extremely fortunate students to have Mr. Fredrickson as a 3rd grade teacher at Bayshore Elementary. He was one of the kindest teachers I have ever met, and we always had a lot of fun in his class! As a class we knew he loved baseball, and we would surprise him by all singing "Take me out to the ballgame" quite frequently. He was an amazing person. Susan and Randy raised two marvelous children, who have already done wonderful things! I remember running into Mr. Fred last year and talking about how fantastic Sarah was doing in school. You could tell he was beyond proud of what she had already accomplished.
I am teaching now at Bayshore Elementary, and it is amazing to see how Mr. Fred's kindness, and passion for teaching has touched so many throughout this county.
Thank you Mr. Fredrickson for being such an inspiration to us all!

Mr. Fredrickson was my third grade teacher. I remember being a 9 year old walking in to class where this big tall man stood. I was so scared, but changed my mind after the first day! He was always so nice and had the kindest heart. He has remained on of my favorite teachers. I saw him just a couple months back and he knew exactly who I was. My thoughts and prayers are with Kyle and his family. The world has lost a truely amazing man.

I met Randy when I moved to Sarasota in 1990 and became a member of Fla. West Baseball Umpires. Randy was not only a great person but the best umpire I have ever known. I am sorry I did not stay in touch with him the last couple of years. My deepest sympathy to his family.

I had the privilege of knowing Mr. Fredrickson when he worked at Bashaw Elementary. He was such a kind man. I don't think I ever saw him when he didn't stop and say hello and ask about my family. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I pray God will comfort you all.

The Fredrickson's were our neighbors (the Ewers family) back in the late 1950's. They lived right behind us and over one house. It was back in the days when there were no fences and neighbors were truly neighbors......so we all grew up together. Randy was a cute little boy who grew up into a wonderful man! I had the privilege of knowing him again in my adult life, as a teacher. He was my daughter's third grade teacher. And what a wonderful teacher he was! The kids all loved him! During a birthday slumber party they all begged to go on a walk past Mr. Fred's house! He later became an Assistant Principal right here in Manatee County. My daughter walked into his school one day to leave off her own application for a teaching position and there was Mr. Fredrickson! This time loved by all the staff as well as all the students. Randy was a great man with a beautiful family of his own! Thanks to Randy for sharing his many talents with all of us! He will truly be missed in our neighborhood!
