Randy Gillies

Randy Gillies "RG" passed away July 3, 2016. Randy was born in Lorain, Ohio and graduated from Elyria High School in 1965. Randy served in the United States Army in Vietnam as an expert marksman. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, in addition to several other decorations and citations. He worked for over 40 years in the amusement and vending business, establishing many wonderful personal and business relationships. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman and in his younger years, earned a first degree black belt in Karate. Randy had a short battle with a very aggressive cancer. His battle ended peacefully at home with his family. He is survived by his wife, Judy and son, Brett; sister, Peggy; and brothers, Jeff, Bruce, Brian, and Barry. Services will be held at All Souls Mortuary, 4400 Cherry Ave, Long Beach, CA, on July 14, 2016 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society. he had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to sing the Beatles song "Yesterday" and "Michelle my Belle". Randy and I went to high school together and after graduation we had our first date on my birthday, December 4 and continued seeing each other until he was sent to Vietnam -
I am sorrowful that I had not seen this website sooner... time passes, class reunions come around and you see a graduation pic on the "Deceased Memory
Board" and your heart is broken. My belated sympathy to Peggy, and his brothers Kim, Bruce, Brian and Barry.
