Randy Hindman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 23, 2013.
Hindman, Randy lost his battle with cancer at home surrounded by his children, Wed., June 19, 2013. Loving father and father-in-law of Kellie Hindman, Abby Hindman (Stephen) Schweigart, Molly Hindman (Steven) Prichard, Emily Hindman and Adam Hindman; loving grandfather of Gabrielle Schweigart; beloved son of Rex and the late Carol Hindman; dear brother of J. Kelly Hindman, Susan McRoberts and Sarah Finkel. Randy said once that he had a dread fear of being average. His motto, one repeated often to family, of never resting until you'd become the best, is a goal everyone with whom he came into contact would agree he'd far surpassed. Universally adored and admired, the example of his life leaves a legacy we will all strive to emulate. Services: A celebration of Randy's life will be held at the ORTMANN STIPANOVICH Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur, Fri., June 28 from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery in Shelbyville, IN on Sat., June 29 at 4 p.m., and the celebration will continue at the home of Randy's sister, Sarah Finkel, at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please visit the facebook page for the Randy Hindman Memorial Scholarship Fund.

One of the smartest things i ever did in my professsional careet was to hire Randy into Deloitte. He quickly became a key contributor in our practice, was super supportive of our team and a role model for many on what it means to be a professional. He loved the big challenge, he would always ask how he could help. Those are a few of the things that i will always remember about him. He will be greatly missed and i want to extend my deepest sympahty to you all, his family and friends. We have lost a special person

Adam, the Patriots shared a moment of silence before our last game to honor our founding Coach. In that moment, my thoughts turned to him and you and the rest of the team. Because he stepped up to lead us, your Dad allowed us to spend countless happy (well, mostly) hours enjoying the game we love.
All of us, players AND coaches, learned a lot from your Father, most of it about things much bigger than baseball. We'll miss him, of course; but most of all we will, like everyone else who had the honor of knowing him, cherish his memory and carry forward the life-lessons learned.
There's something I heard your Dad say hundreds of times that you may remember. I'm reminded of it because as you live your life there will be times when you feel like slacking off, or taking the easy way out. As it says in the obituary, Randy would have none of that, of course; but he demanded more of himself than others. So in his honor, just remember these few words that he would say to you, in his gentle, soft-spoken voice and, "C'MON, BUGS...DON'T JUST FLING IT UP THERE!!" I'm sure you won't, but I hope you're smiling a little bit right now. That's what he would want, I'm sure.
So stay strong, do your best and may God Bless you and your family. What am I saying...He already has.
Thanks, Randy...for everything. Rest in Peace.

Emily and Adam,

Your dad was a positive influence in our family. We enjoyed all the ballgames and happy times with him. He was a man of patience and kindness. He put his mark on everyone he came in contact with. He did things 100%+. His life is one to be celebrated to the fullest.

I only met Randy a handful of times, but he was always kind, happy, and sincere. My impressions of him can be best be viewed through his children -Abby, Molly, Kellie, Emily, and Adam...they all certainly have different worldviews, but they all share their traits of generosity, integrity, kindness, and a strong sense of family, which I know is a reflection of Randy. He will be greatly missed.

Randy and his family became part of our family at the wedding of our son Stephen and his daughter Abby. It was like we knew him forever, with his warm heart. We also became part of their lives with holidays and the Hindman Family Vacations, which Randy always invited us to.He is such an amazing man and we will miss him , but know he is an angel which will always be watching over those he loved.
