A celebration of the life of Randy Newman, 53, of Longview, will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2008, at Oakland Heights Baptist Church, with Pastor Tom Roberson officiating. A private family service will be held at the gravesite. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Randy died Thursday, July 17, near Pampa, Texas, as a result of injuries he received in an automobile accident.
Randy was born December 15, 1954, in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and proud grandfather.
Randy was a longtime member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church, a 1972 graduate of Pine Tree High School, an active band dad and president of the Pine Tree High School Band Boosters. He was employed by Sun Pipeline for more than 25 years and was a longtime weekend "fixture" at Judson Road Exxon. Randy never met a stranger and loved to visit with people.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Suzanne Newman; his children, Jason and Gena Newman of Dallas and Lauren Newman of Dallas; grandson, James Randall Newman; parents, Ira and Shirley Newman of Longview; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Ric Johnson of Longview; and many other friends and family.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, July 20, 2008, from 5-7 p.m.
Those desiring to do so may make memorial contributions to the Oakland Heights Baptist Church Building Fund or to a charity of choice.
