Jim was a very good friend who I had the pleasure of knowing since I was very young. Gave me my first ride on a tractor. Dottie and Jim for a long long time spent Christmas Eve with us. Jim helped great numbers of people in his time. You will be remembered until we meet again...Mick

I always wondered who the adorable man was who lived in the house on the corner of Rt. 113 & Rt. 401. I told my son that one day I wanted to stop and buy up ALL of his tomatoes and leave him a surprise payment. Well, the day we stopped, Jim came right out, introduced himself and we had the most wonderful conversation. I posted to my FB friends to please stop by & buy some Umble Tomatoes! Well, not too long after, Jim surprised me by ringing my doorbell and presenting me with two bottles of his famous homemade wine, Rhubarb! We sat outside and talked for over an hour. He told me all about his life, how much he loved his wife, stories of Chester Springs, he was so funny & witty! I sent him a gift basket this past holiday season to let him know we were thinking of him. I enjoyed driving past and beeping and waving to him when he was on his tractor. The wisdom and kindness that radiated from those beautiful eyes were a wonder to behold, and the stories he could tell were just plain magical. He reminds me of my late father in so many ways. I will miss my neighbor very much and feel so fortunate to have known him, if only for short time.

I had the extreme pleasure of knowing "Jim". I would listen to this strong yet humble man tell stories of his life: family, jobs, the surrounding communities. He was such a nice man. I will truly miss seeing this gentleman. I have been blessed to have met him. God Bless You Mr. Umble!

whether first generation, or 3rd or 4th, Jim was always a joy to myself and my girls. I am the grand-daughter of Eleanor, great-neice of Mary, Howard, and Chrissie. (cousins). I always recall the great family picnics, and Jim plowing Mamie out for all those years when she was alone on Clothier Springs.
Just last fall, shopping for thanksgiving at Redner's, Jim and i had the loveliest conversation in the parking lot. Him not knowing we were relations, just asking about my holiday plans, and family. I loved passing by on my way home from work, seeing him on his little tractor getting around the property.
He was the true salt of the earth, and a good man.
