Raul Hernandez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 2, 2025.
Raul Lionel Hernandez of Cameron Park, California, passed away peacefully on March 5th, 2025 at the age of 83. Raul was born, raised, and spent the majority of his life in the San Francisco Bay Area. Raul graduated with a degree in Horticulture Studies from City College of San Francisco and was also a proud member of the National Guard. He would lead a career that would span 35 years with the San Francisco Recreation and Parks department that started at the Conservatory of Flowers. He held numerous supervisory positions, and retired as the supervisor of the Harding Fleming Golf Course. Raul would say that he enjoyed his time working at the Conservatory of Flowers most.

In his free time, Raul enjoyed maintaining his yard, as well as the landscaping of family and friend's homes, carnivorous plants, dogs, turtles, cats, koi fish, playing golf, and fishing when he could. He also volunteered at various humane societies, went on frequent travel trailer trips with friends, and was a member of the Elks Lodge.

To know Raul was to know warmth and great conversation

Raul has left many people to cherish his memories, including his wife Anne Hernandez, son Steven Hernandez, grand daughter Sarah Hernandez, step daughter Rachel and her children Kyra and Owen, and his sister Elisa Cordero (Manuel). He is preceded in death by his mother Jesus Hernandez, father Zeferino Hernandez, and his two brothers, Oscar Hernandez and Rudy Hernandez.

Raul was one of my supervisors at Rec & Park. He was one of the most easiest going people I've ever met. I still remember some of his words of wisdom to this very day.
Boy did we have a good time in those days... and after.

I am thankful I was able to spend as much time as I did with my Dad as well as make and share so many memories. He was a great Dad, Grandpa, Sibling and friend that touched everyone in his life. My Dad will be missed but not forgotten. He is at peace now with his parents and brothers.

I'll truly miss my beloved brother. My life would have been so lonely without all of the activities and places he took me. So much fun. I always felt protected by him, and of course, my dear mama.

I'll miss my beloved brother, but he's in a better place visiting our dear parents and brothers. His pets are also with him.

Rest in peace dear brother. Your sister loves you. Always have, always will.
