Services for Ray Lamar Shepherd, 91, of Thomasville, are 10 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2009, at Allen and Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Jess Stanfield will officiate and interment is in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Shepherd died June 22, 2009, at Golden Living Center. Born Sept. 13, 1917, in Thomas County, he was the son of the late Sam and Mattie Pierce Shepherd. He married Thelma Geraldine Shepherd, who preceded him in death on Sept. 22, 1996, after 57 years of marriage. He was a longtime plantation manager. Survivors include sons, Martin Shepherd of Bogart and Ronald Raymond Shepherd and wife Leslie of Miccosukee, Fla.; grandchildren, Martin Shepherd Jr. of Bethlehem, Amy Shepherd Cook of Thomasville, Deborah Shepherd Stanfield and Stephanie Tharpe, both of Macon, and Delia Large-Hart of Lexington, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Sarah Stanfield, Sydney Stanfield, Emily Stanfield, Barron Tharpe, Cutter Tharpe, Abigail Cook, Katherine Cook, Amelia Cook and Natalie Shepherd; sisters, Lois Parenti of Thomasville and Peggy Fox of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; niece, Barbara Hollowell of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and, nephew, John Fox of Winston-Salem, N.C. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Visitors may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com. — Allen and Allen Funeral Home
