I first met Doug when he attended Marist College High School in Atlanta, GA. At that time it was an all male military highschool. We were always seated in alphabetical order, so Broussard was before Chaffin, hence I always sat behind Doug. This was in the 9th grade at Marist. Our history teacher was Coach Shea. He for some unknown reason decided to call Doug "Buzzy." Somehow it stuck, and I and many others know Doug as Buzzy. After attending Marist, Buzzy transferred to GMA in Atlanta.
Buzzy's sister, Catherine, was best friends with my deceased wife, Valerie. I kept in touch with Buzzy and Gordon through Catherine. I always enjoyed seeing Buzzy and reminiscing about highschool and the fun we had.
I will miss Buzzy and Catherine always.

Doug was the eldest of my maternal cousins...the tall one in the photo. We stair-stepped down in age, and our two families lived close to each other--so we were always together for holidays and birthdays. Here we are, all gathered around our beloved grandmother on her 60th birthday in 1960. Too many good memories to list. It's sad to let go. Rest in peace, Doug.

Coming from a family of sisters, Doug, my brother-in-law for many years, was one of my honorary "brothers."I was proud of his military service and glad to have him in the family. He will be missed.

Doug and I met at the AFA when he was a doolie and I was a freshman at Colorado College. We maintained a friendship until his death. He often called me his best friend. His son and grandchildren were a constant source of pride. I had the deepest fondness and respect for him and will miss him dearly.
