Raymond Clark Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 18, 2022.
Raymond "Ray" R. Clark, Jr., 70, of Chestertown, MD, passed away on October 13, 2022, after a short battle with illness.

Ray was born on February 20, 1952, the son of Betty Estelle and Raymond Richard Clark, Sr. He graduated from Chestertown High School with the class of 1970 and became a farm owner and operator in Chestertown. In 1983, Ray built Green Point Marina at his childhood home on Worton Creek. He owned and operated the marina for 37 years before its sale in 2020.

Ray loved life and all its joys and adventures. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, golfing, and good food (especially crabs). As a lifelong fan of Disney World, Ray visited the parks many times. While he would take trips to explore the resorts and restaurants by himself, he especially loved to share the experience with his family and friends. He was the best Disney guide, trip organizer, and food expert.

As a dedicated member and president of the board of The Eastern Shore Alano Club, and a long-term employee of Amazon Fulfillment in Middletown, DE, Ray was a friend and mentor to many. He could be counted on for honest advice, guidance, encouragement, and support. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Betty Simpers and Raymond Richard Clark Sr., his stepfather, Frank Vannort Simpers Jr., and his stepbrother Tommy Simpers.

Ray is survived by two daughters: James "Jamie" William Clark (Austin McNamara) and Kendall Clark Almaguer (Ryan), a son: Jordan Alexander Clark; three grandchildren: Kyla James McNamara, Alannah Pearl McNamara, and Ava Marie Clark; two ex-wives, Jimi Akin and Diane Watkins; and a stepbrother, Frank Vannort "Van" Simpers III.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 29, at 11:00 am at Shrewsbury Parish Episcopal Church, 12824 Shrewsbury Church Rd, Kennedyville, MD 21645. Friends and family are welcome to bring written or typed memories of Ray to the service to be included in a scrapbook for the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastern Shore Alano Club at 103 Dixon Drive, Chestertown, MD 21620.
