Ray and I grew up in the same neighborhood; Slocum Station OH. As children we'd shout out Tarzan Yell's to see if the other was listening. Exploring the woods and countryside was a way of life. We knew every creek, crook and cranny of our environment; in far more simpler times when sleigh siding, ice skating or even just out and about poking sticks in the mud.
Then our time to have our own and drive car times. Rays Chevel 396 came after his first car; a Plymouth slant six Valiant. He ended up throwing a connecting rod in that car. Did so much damage you could see thru a hole it made in the hood, thru the engine block and see the ground below... lol.
Rays father was a HAM radio operator which ended up affecting my business career. If not for his fathers discarded parts, I'd never had the opportunities to create my own radio transmitters starting in my tween years. Then later go on to pursue leading edge technology as the only source of income after high school and college.
Only in the last few decades have we not stayed close; place and time can do that.
Still have more time to explore like we did and I'm gonna do it.
