Daddy,
It´s been 20 LONG years. 20 years of not hearing your voice, not hearing your loud beautiful laugh, not being able to feel your big bear hugs, and not being able to create new memories.
I was only 11 when you died and now I´m 31. It still shocks me to say that out loud. The pain I still feel from your death, makes it feel like it just happened yesterday. Time doesn´t heal all wounds. I often think about how different life would be if you were still here. We all feel that way - me, mom, Nikki, Jackie, Mandy, Taylor, Jeremy, Keith, and everyone who loves you.
You now have 8 beautiful grandchildren that I know you would´ve had a blast with. It´s crazy how they never met you, but because we talk about you so much and still feel hurt over losing you, they love you and wish they could´ve met their Grandpa Ray. Two of the boys LOVE wrestling and I know you´d be teaching them all your moves in the ring!
We will always miss you. I love you with all my heart, daddy. Until we meet again.
You´re my heart, you´re my soul, you´re my little tootsie roll.

My daughters and I would like to thank Wrestling-News.com and The Wrestling Chatterbox for sponsoring this guestbook. We have felt honored to read all the wonderful sentiments that have been posted. We always knew how wonderful Ray was, but it was nice to see that many people felt the same way too. This guestbook will mean so much to my children in years to come when they can look back and read these beautiful e-mails and remember how lucky they were to have Ray as their father. I know that I will always feel proud that I loved such a wonderful and kind man for 29 years and I will always miss my best friend.
God Bless All of You.

Dad,
Its has been a year, a hard year, but there is not a day that goes by that I don't think about and miss you. Its been a hard year not having you around....not hearing your voice saying my name "Hey Nikki" or when you would come in the house and give me a great big hug. I miss that. I miss your confidence and reassurance in me. I know that you have been watching over me and the family every step of the way. They say that hind sight is 20/20 and I have thought about if I could have done anything differently but I know that we were at a great place in our relationship. I know no matter what I do or no matter where I go in life you will always be with me. You will be with me because you are a part of me. I carry you in my heart,my soul and in my memories. I look at mom and the girls and I see a piece of you in each of them and that makes me smile and it helps me get through these tough days. I love you Dad and always will. I'll see you in my dreams Love always your oldest daughter and your rock-Nichole

Today I was reading the guest book and I was just thinking how much my dad would love this. When he died I was thirteen years old, he had died a few weeks before my birthday. It was very hard for me that he had died before my birthday and to tell you the truth I didn't even feel like doing anything that day I just felt like laying down all day, and feeling depressed. I can't say that I feel better about this situation I still cry every night before I go to sleep. I just wish not only that he was still here but that the people that didn't get to meet him would have because he was funny, and caring , and silly sometimes. He was a wonderful father I am not saying that we didn't have are arguments because we did but after are arguments we would make up because we love eachother very much.He would always call me his twin because we looked alot alike and we had the same kind of caring hearts. well I just wanted to say thank you for writing such kind, and wonderful things about my dad, Ialso wanted to say that I love you daddy and you will always be in my heart.
love your twin

Hercules, you were one of the all time greats. I was watching an old wrestling tape of Hercules taking on Scott McGhee at the Boston Garden. As Gorilla Monsoon would say, You were a great physical specimen. You were in tip top shape and really cared about the sport. Also at Wrestlemania 2, you took on Ricky Steamboat. That was a great match. Again I say to you, you will always be a champion and rest in peace.

ray,
my firend and dart partner. i miss you dearly.red and i talk about you all the time. it was just the other night i was talking to a friend and something was said about wrestling. and i said hey ray would love to hear that he would laugh so hard. and i went to pick you the phone to call you.then i remembered. lord i hate those days. god took you from us for some reason we do not know.and i know it maybe wrong but the days like that i still get angry. well ray i'm going to tell you this story even though i know you already know. my little tino passed away. i remeber when you would come to the house. and he would get up in you lap and lick you face and he had a thing for you right ear. remember when you named him the little mexican. cuzz he would eat anything for taco's to hot sauce? well any how. i cried for days. cuzz he was one link to my memoires to you. and i loved you both so. well after about a week of this red couldn't take seeing me this way. and he went out and got me a new puppie. he is a miniture schnauzer.red brouht him home and i took him out in the yard to play and do his thing. well the first thing he did was pick up this palm fron. that had fallen off our tree and the fisrt thing that came out of my mouth was look he thinks he's hercules hernadez. it was twice as big as he was at the time. and he looked so cute carrying it around. so i hope you don't mind wich i don't think you do cuz if you were here you would have made a joke about it yourself.and i don't want the girls or debbie to take it as an insult because i would never do anything to hurt them. but i named him hercules hernadez von rattler mathis. because to me it is an honor to have another herc in our family. and every time i call his name it also makes me think of you. it keeps you in my heart. now i know i don't have to ask this. but give tino a taco for me and play with him in the feilds of flower's and let him know that his earth bound mommy love the both of you and miss you both very much.

Dearest Ray,
I'm sure you got my birthday wish on your birthday, May 7th. I wished Debbie a happy birthday first and then you. I'm sure you didn't mind I wished her first, after all she's one of my bestest friends! And you, of course, her hubby born on the same day! Gosh! Imagine! Two Taurus' - two bulls! I know which of you had the horns though! and I love you both! Love is eternal and I love you both dearly. I hope you were able to sit back and relax on your birthday and see from above at how wonderful a family you have (tho I'm sure you've always known!) They've pulled together and become closer and are sharing their love for each other in so many more ways now. As a close family friend, I've always loved you all and am proud of what you and Debbie have done with your girls. So on both your birthdays, (belated from May 7th) I wish you peace and love forever! Love you all!

My name is Nichole Rae Fernandez. I am the oldest daughter of The Mighty Hercules. When I first wrote in this guestbook I was at a loss for words. I wanted to come back and write some things about my dad and let him know a few things as well. I did not want to miss the opportunity to let everyone know what a great person he was. He was always smiling and laughing no matter what. He had 2 loves in his life, his wife Debbie and his children. He was always helping others without ever expecting anything in return. He will always be remembered as one of the greats in Wrestling. The Mighty Hercules will live on in our hearts forever.
Dear Dad, I never expected to lose you this soon. We had so many plans for the future. You were one of my best friends. I enjoyed our daily talks. You could always put a smile on my face with your jokes. We always had such a great time together on the weekends or whenever we hung out for that matter. Adam and Scrappy miss those good times to. I found the birthday card you gave me last year and it said "Nikki, You are my rock and I don't know what I would do without you"Well you were mine to and now I am at a loss without you in my life. I miss you every minute of every day. Sometimes so much its hard to breathe. I can go on happy though knowing you are my bodyguard. My guardian angel looking after me just like you did when you were here with me. I love you with all my heart and soul. This is not goodbye. You will live on in my heart forever and always and I will cherish all the memories I have with you everyday of my life. Love your best friend-Nikki (you are greatly missed)

My name is Amanda and I am Hercules' third daughter. The world not only lost a great westler and friend ,but they lost the best father. I remember when i was young i would never leave his side for anything. i didnt even walk until i was five because i made him carry me on his shoulders everywhere we would go. We would go to the gym together, with our matching jean jackets, and i was so small he would have to put two pillows on the seat for me to see over the dashboard. He was always trying to fix things so they were the way i like. When someone dies people often feel guilty about things that happened while they were alive such as fighting or saying things they didnt mean and they didnt get a chance to say sorry. I didnt have that feeling when he died. My father and i never had an argument we agreed on everything he would always stick up for me and i would always stick up for him. We were the best Tag Team ever! I will always miss him, and i will never regret one minute we had as father and daughter. To the "Mighty Hercules" rest in peace!

Hercules is defined as the most famous hero of ancient times and the most beloved, he was a man who was so strong and courageous, whose deeds were so mighty, and who endured all the hardships that were given to him. Unfortunately I did not have the pleasure of meeting Hercules (Ray) in his wrestling days, but I can see why he got that nickname because that was the kind of man he was both in the ring and in life. Ray was one of the kindest men I have ever meant in my life; I think that saying “I’ll give you the shirt off my back” was created because of him. I will miss all of the talks that we had, and the laughs that we shared. Ray I thank you for leaving behind six of the most special and wonderful woman I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I just want you to know that it will be my honor to look after all six of them, and to be there for them just like you were. I’ll miss you Ray, my father in law.

I had the privilege of meeting Ray about back around WrestleMania 3.
My family was on vacation with another family (friends of ours) in Philadelphia, and unbeknownst to us, the (then-)WWF was in town.
I've been a huge fan of wrestling for over 25 years, but my friend only really knew the biggest names of the day like Hogan, Andre, and Iron Sheik.
I was up in my hotel room, and my friend came running up from the hotel pool to get me, saying "Dave, I think there's a wrestler down in the gym!"
I asked for a description, and knew immediately it had to be Hercules Hernandez.
So we went downstairs, a couple of 15 year-olds at the time, and there he was.
I approached him & asked for an autograph, and he answered in a gentle, mild-mannered tone "Sure, how would you like to help me set up some weights first?"
It was my first meeting with a pro wrestler in an unscheduled environment (as opposed to an autograph-signing or a meet-and-greet), and here he was this vicious heel at the time, and he was as kind as could be.
Looking back, I know he didn't really need any help with weights (he was huge!), but he seemed to like the idea of letting us teenagers feel like we were doing something to help him.
It would've been easy for a heel of his status to try to "protect the business" back then & kayfabe us with a "beat it kids!", but instead he chatted with us, let us help him set up, signed an autograph (which I still have), and shook hands with us & wished us the best.
I can vouch for his widow Debbie's comment that he "lived as a simple Tampa guy who never took himself to be as big a star as he was," because that's exactly how he was when my friend & I met him that day.
My best wishes to the Fernandez family.
And thank you, Ray, for spending just a few moments of time making a memory for me.

With great sadness with the loss of a great man comes happiness. Hercules as I knew him was a great man, and now will go on to a better place high above the clouds.
When I was a young kid having dreams of becoming what he was, I would watch in awe at his ability to work the crowd into a frenzy. He was a great entertainer, and I'm sure he was a great family man. Let us all remember him forever as a man who did his job, and man who took care of his family.
Ray I as many others Pray for you, but more importantly pray for your family to be strong and carry on with you in their memories.
May God Bless You

I remember watching Hercules at many Wrestlemanias, due to the fact that I am not old enough to have seen him wrestle at other times, but I remember him as a great athlete, and a joy to watch. he will be missed.

Growing up Hercules was always a favorite of mine, from his days in Florida, Mid South, Texas, and the WWF. He was one of my favorite "heel" wrestlers and I always cheered him on in his battles with the good guys of wrestling, hoping he would overome them with victories.
I have many memories of him in the ring, and want to send my thoughts and prayers out to his family. Thanks for sharing him with the miliions of fans around the world, at that time you were nice enough to share him with us, now in a small way we share in your grief. Our thoughts and paryers are with you.
Rest in peace Herc.

Hercules was one of the strongest competitors I had ever seen. I still remember how he cleared the ring at Wrestlemania V with his huge chain. I always wondered how heavy that thing was. I met him and he let me hold it once, and I barely could get it off the ground. He was an amazing human being. Thank you.

I'm so sorry about mr.fernandez. I
was really shocked. I Hope everything will be okay. My condolences goes out to his family.
I remember him in the wwe when he was in the Bobby Heenan family and
when he teamed up with Paul Roma.
When he turned face for a while,Heenan ran out of the tv studio and dropped his hat. Hercules
Hernandez picked it up and brought it back to Gorilla Monsoon on Prime
Time Wrestling. I thought it was pretty funny.

Hercules was always one of my favorites. As either a good guy or a bad guy he was an awesome performer. It's a shame when we lose such greats at such a young age. I will never forget Herc and everything he brought to the wrestling business. I'm honored to have watched him during his prime and to actually remember how great he always was. I'm also thankful to have a lot of his bouts on video to remember what great matches he produced. RIP, Herc..don't swing too many chains in Heaven. You'll never be forgotten.

From the first time i saw him, with the beard and the long hair, looking like an uncaged animal tugging on the ropes and stomping that right foot, (paying attention, Shawn Michaels?) I thought to myself," A Bruiser Brody clone" On closer inspection i saw a powerful built that Brody could only wish for, a maniacal stare that would make his opponents wet themselves, and a stiffarm block that would rattle the teeth of anyone unlucky enough to be his adversary. The more I saw of this guy, the more I thought, this guy is a killer. I watched the evolution from his acquisition & cleanup by Bobby Heenan and he became one of my in-ring faves as he put the boots to his opponents and finished them off with the most devastating full nelson I have ever seen. I had the good fortune to see the man in person in Phoenix around 1992. I remember seeing him on an episode of Thunder in Paradise as an extra on the beach and he seemed to just drop out of sight after that, although i heard he was the heavyweight champ of some east coast federation for a period of time. I had always hoped to see him again in all of his glory, but alas, all I have is the memories of the man, the power house known as,,,, Hercules. My heart is heavy as I write this but i know that Heaven has just added a main attraction and Herc is showing the multitudes the best damn full nelson there ever was. My sincerest love and condolences to his family and friends. Rock on Hercules! You alone are the Power and Glory.

I just want to say that I am keeping the family of One of My Heros in my prayers. Hercules was someone I truly enjoyed watching any time I got to see him on television. I think God is both a wrestling fan and a fan of Hercules because he brought him home to heaven to join the greatest wrestling federation ever assembled. May the soul of a truly great man live peacefully beside our lord and savior Jesus for the rest of eternity. Amen.

Hercules was one of a kind. When the trumpets blared in the arenas, there was only one person that you knew was coming down to the ring. And the infamous chain, and the way he would spin it over his head to clear the ring to be the only person in the ring. There will never be another like him. Rest high on that mountain Hercules, you will be missed.
