Dot,Although you may not remember me as I left RI in 1989,I have many found memories of Ray and Lime Rock Baptist Adult Sunday School.My last name is no longer Burns. Even though I have had no contact with you I am saddened to hear of your loss and knowing such a great man has left us.

We were so sorry to hear about Ray's death. We will always remember Ray and the family coming to the farm and the store in Lime Rock.

Ray,you taught me how to swing a golf club,encouraged critical thinking and debate around the dinner table,played catch with me in the living room,and your regular visits to Scotland,with exciting gifts from the US in hand,were always eagerly anticipated.
As a child growing up,you inspired me in so many ways.Throughout the following 37 years you were,and always will be,thought of in the highest esteem.
You lived a full and wonderful life Ray,and touched so many hearts and minds around the world.You leave a legacy behind and will be so sorely missed.
My love and deepest sympathy goes to Dorothy and the family.My thoughts are with you all.

Nancy, Susan, and Mrs Houghton. Words cannot express the sorrow that I have felt since hearing about your dad's passing. I feel like I have lost my second dad. One of my highlights when returning on military leave was to stop by to see Mr H. . He always asked the same question, What are you doing with your life. Any success I have had in my life can be directly attributed to Raymond Houghton's influence. Sleep well Mr H, you will be truly missed.

We had the pleasure of meeting Ray twice in the last few years while visiting Rhode Island to follow the footsteps of our ancestor Bishop George Berkeley. Rays knowledge and passion for all things Berkeley made both occasions highlights of the trips. It was with great sadness that we heard of Ray's passing. For so many, you passed on the flame of teaching as torching, encouraging, giving the courage to fly, or at least to try.

Dear Family,

I only met Ray once: at an Upward Bound dinner, where Mariam BBoyajian introduced him with great pride and respect. I have been an Upward Bound mentor and know the great good the program has done. He has left a legacy at Rhode Island College. As president of the college, I send our deepest sympathy. Our flag flies at half mast out of respect for Ray's passing.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

I've known Ray since I was born. He was a fascinating, sometimes intimidating and always entertaining friend and teacher. I remember the "I'm Votin' Houghton" campaign for House of Representatives in the 60's, and Adult Class at LRBC. In later years he and Dorothy were devoted friends of my parents, and for that I will be eternally grateful. Rest in peace, Ray.

Uncle Raymond lit a passion in every person he ever met. We will miss him so very much. Our love to you all. That's the way we do at Nasu

Sorry to hear about your Dad.I hope all is well with you as you enjoy your grandchildren.

So sad to hear of Raymond's passing. I was pleased to be able to share a brief time with him, and while I was Mayor of Great Falls, MT, give him an honorary citizenship to our lovely town. He will be deeply and sadly missed.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Ray's death. He was a treasured friend; our friendship began when we were teaching together in Warwick. I will be forever grateful to Ray and all of the family for your many kindnesses.

My condolences to your family in the passing of your dad. My mother still talks of him today on how he used to walk in our house during the day, say hi and sit in the rocker reading his book.

dear dottie. it always saddens me when i see yet another of dads friends join him on the 19th hole. i hope they are all together on a sunny day, clubs in hand and smiles on their faces. my deepest sympathies to you and your family. alan gianfrancesco.
