Ray was my first legal employer and mentor (1976-1979) He was tough, really tough! and a great attorney who always played hardball with all opponents. He was always prepared and was one of the first black civil rights attorneys in St Louis and part of the Jefferson Bank protests. He saved a lot of folks from jail and even the death penalty when their were only a few associate black judges. He made a lot of money for folks in civil cases as well and was a lifelong NAACP member. He was practicing up until the day he died and looked great. The lawyers he mentored (myself, Scott Richardson, Ken Singer and Robert) all went on to distinguish themselves as successful attorneys and champions for justice. His children also excelled in every way. My deepest condolences to the family. I will miss him and am grateful for his tutelage.

Attorney Howard was more then just my attorney he was my life coach, he was very supportive of anything I did and he always encouraged me to do my very best. I would often tease him about hiring me as his personal assistant because I spent many of days at his office and his home trying to help him with his computer or printer. Afterwards he'd always try to pay me with lunch, and he'd use that opportunity to get me to drive him all the way downtown to this chilli restaurant he absolute loved. Ray knew I wasn't a big fan of chilli but I took him everytime especially when I knew his health was starting to fail. But now that he's transitioned I wouldn't trade any of those days in for anything. He'll most certainly be missed. Rest in Heaven Ray❤
