Words cannot express the heartfelt sympathy we have for you Deborah, Kristin, and Kim during this time of sorrow. While Raymond may not be here in body, his spirit will be watching over you always and his memories will forever live in your hearts and minds. The day our son Jason introduced us to you and Raymond because he was to be married to your daughter Kristin, we could not have been more proud to call him and you our friends and part of our family. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. May Raymond rest in peace until we all join him one day in heaven.

These last few days of shock, have not been of soul sadness, but of reflection, on the days I enjoyed with my uncle. For that reason, I've been truly at a loss for words. How does someone explain, what it was like to have godparents that were not only great but had children that made childhood exciting. when I look back I see adventure, camping, and just plain fun! In all honesty Uncle Raymond and Aunt Debbie were my first real audiance. Oh, and how I wanted to impress! It was there anniversary, and even though we were in Calona I wanted them to know how speacial they were to me. Thinking back now, a balloon and a card was the best I could come up with! but it seemed like the world to me!!!!

It may have been along time since we have seen each other, or along time since we have talked, but I promise there's not a day that goes by from now on, since then, that you will not be in my heart. Proud to say, and always! my Godfather, Uncle Raymond.

Love always your Godchild, Elisha

Ray was one of the most genuine and kind people I have ever met. He was always willing to help in any way he could and never once did he say he was too busy, he always helped immediately with a smile. He spent many hours explaining "IT stuff" in terms that an IT novice like me could understand and never made you feel inadequate. His sense of humor was second to none and he loved to talk about his family who were clearly the most important thing in his life. When you left his office you always felt better for knowing him. He loved to tell stories of his experiences in life that always made you smile, his passing has left a void and he will be greatly missed.

Like several others, I became acquainted with Ray due to my lack of computer skills. When I had urgent computer needs he was so willing to help out right away. Several times he helped me out because my computer wasn't even functioning so that I could send an IT "Ticket" so that the IT department could fix my problem. Since part of their measurement of productivity is by how many "tickets" they process and close out, I would ask Ray (after he had fixed my computer)if he wanted me to submit a "Ticket" so that he could close out the ticket and get credit for it. With that a smile on his face he would just say, "FORGET the ticket". It would always make me laugh and appreciate his help even more.

What I appreciated even more was his natural ability to make friends, share information about the company, and never make you feel like you were imposing on his time although he always had more than enough going on.

My stepfather passed away similiarly of a sudden heart attack and was extremely active and hard working right up to the end. He loved to work and was always fixing things and solving problems of one sort or another. I heard someone at the funeral remark afterwards that God probably had something that needed fixing and said, "Let's get Norman up here to fix this".

From reading the comments it sounds like Ray was much like my stepfather in this regard. Perhaps it was said, "It is time to get Ray up here to help figure this out."

May God bless Ray Nickerson and his family that is left behind.

I have known Raymond for almost all of my life and hearing of his passing is a very hard thing to hear. When I first arrived in Canada he became my friend and made my transition to living in Canada easier. He will indeed be missed by all those who have passed through his life. Ray was one of the funniest people I have ever known! I remember at Kristin's birthday parties him jumping in the pool with all of his clothes on and giving all of us a hard time about anything and everything! Ray was his daughters biggest fans and everytime he saw his grandchildren, he just lit up. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you who worked alongside him and of course his family. He will be missed dearly.

Deb, Kristin & Kimberly,
I'm not sure if you know this but Dad once told me that, if Raymond was not his son-in-law he would have chose him as a friend. Dad was a very smart man and I believe that speaks volumes of how Raymond led his life!
We'll miss him and we send All Our Love, Donna, Billy & Jordan XO

Words can not even begin to express the sorrow and agony that we feel, My dad was the best dad in the whole world, we wanted for nothing because he give us everything. He was a kind and loving man, always willing to help in anyway he could . The day he went to be with the lord, was the saddest day in our lives. I will forever miss him and forever love him. Rest in peace Daddy, may we meet again someday.

Love your favorite oldest daughter,

Ray always had a great story to tell and I enjoyed shooting the breeze in his office every time I visited Houston. It was like catching up with an old friend every time, even though I only saw him once or twice a year. He is truly missed. I am so thankful that his fire and spirit has been passed on to his daughters, who are also a joy to work with. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Please take care.

I have been so sad since learning of Ray's passing. I feel very blessed to have worked with him for 10+ years at Core Lab. He was such a good person, so willing to help regardless of the situation. I always enjoyed his sense of humor, the teasing and the twinkle in his eyes. The hallways in the office are not the same without you there. My condolences to Ray's family.

Rest in Peace Ray, we all miss you so much.

My heart goes out to the Nickerson Family. Ray was a nice, friendly guy, who had a way of getting along with everyone. He even let a few of us call him "Crusty" (Hard on the outside and a soft soul on the inside) He would just giggle at it, that's just the type of person he was and will always be remembered as.

For the first time in my life I do not know what to say. Although I haven’t been with the company very long I got to know Ray very well. He loved to tell stories, and he spoke so highly of his family. All this is just so unreal to me. I had just seen Ray that Friday afternoon when he came by HR to drop off some paperwork. We were messing around and kidding with each other as we always did when he came by. He met my daughter for the first time about two months ago. He carried her and was playing with her and was telling her that he was her grandpa. He had a big heart. I can truly say that he will be missed. I am glad that I had the opportunity to get to know him.

My condolences to his family

My condolences to Ray's family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Ray was an excellent person that always wanted to help you no matter what, he always had a smile in his face...I remember when I was pregnant of my first child he used to call me "hey mamma", "Hola mamma" and everyday he use to say a couple of words in 3 or 4 different languages. I feel so sad and I miss him.

Since my first day at Core Lab, I was intimidated by Ray but that changed when his daughters started working here as well. They are wonderful women and made me realize through their stories what a great person Ray was and I came to enjoy our passings in the hall and chuckling at his comments and conversations I overheard. It was obvious he enjoyed life and found humor in the everyday and my thoughts and prayers are with his family over his untimely passing.

I am still in disbelief that Ray has left us, Ray was a generous man that would do anything for you without asking anything in return. He always made you feel that your needs were more important than anyone else's. Raymond you are one of a kind and you will be truly missed by all your friends and co -workers.

Deb, Kimberley and Kristen I am truly sorry for your loss, my prayers are with you.

April 8, 2009

My first encounter with Ray was at Papasittas and ended with his comment that 'You have to be a little peculiar to work in IT' and my response to Ray was 'You are over qualified'. I can't say that he met his match (because it does not exist) but it was a great start to a wonderful friendship and joining into his work family at Core Laboratories. Ray was a neighbor in the office and remains one in my heart.

I Love you man (and you don't have to give me your beer).

My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family.

There will never be another like him. Thanks for sharing him with us.

Ray Nickerson will most certainly be missed – he could always be counted on and he was always available to lend a helping hand – even if he did give you a little bit of teasing. I have many great memories of Ray and I know his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of many Core Lab employees.

To the family of Ray, please know that he always spoke so fondly of you – there was never a doubt of how much he loved you all.

We are sad to say goodbye to our most favorite Canadian!

I was devastated to hear of Ray's passing. He will be sorely missed. I worked w/ him at Core Lab in the 90's. He was always busy but never too busy to be of help to someone.

He always spoke about his love for Canada. And I teased him endlessly about the accent he claimed he did not have.

RIP Rainman.

My condolence to Ray’s family during this tragic time.

For me Ray was a mentor, source of knowledge and great person to work with.
Almost every morning we greet each other in French, English and Russian.
And almost every evening he said: ”Goodbye “ in Italian, Spanish or German.
Ray used to like to talk about his travel around the world.

There is big emptiness since Ray left...

Ray, I am so going to miss you bud. You were a such a good neighbor and friend. I knew I could always count on you for a hand and you the same no mater if it was dragging furniture up and down the stairs or anything else. You always seam to have more energy than the Energizer Bunny. I am going to miss your humor and that sneaky cat grin. I will also miss our lunches and our serious conversations we had.

You give me an open invite to come over to play pool and darts and have a cold one when ever and I wish I had taken you up more on that. Thank you for all you did for me. Save me a cold one in heaven.

Debbie, Kristen and Kim my deepest condolences. If need anything we are just across the street.

I am truly saddened by Ray's passing and extend my deepest sympathies to the Nickerson Family. I joined Core Lab two and a half year ago, and therefore, only had a chance to work with Ray during a short portion of his lengthy career with the company. However, the time I did spend with him was truly enjoyable and a blessing. He would quickly respond to my mundane (and repeat) requests for IT help and always showed up in my office cheerful and enthusiastic about helping me. In fact, he was just in my office last Thursday, helping me (yet again) and seemed his usual happy self. I was stunned when I heard the news of his passing over the weekend.

I know it is small consolation coming from someone you have not met, but I can confirm something you do know, and that is that Ray was a very nice person and will be truly missed.

I was deeply saddened upon hearing of Ray's passing. My heart hurts.

Peace to you, his beloved family. Ray spoke with a smile in his voice and a gleam in his eye when he spoke of you. May you all find peace and comfort through memories of a dear man who loved you so.

Core Laboratories has lost a loyal, dedicated and respected member of its family. Ray will most definitely be missed and thought of for many years to come.

Rest in peace, Mr. Nickerson.

To the Nickerson Family
Ray was an amazing and unique individual. I was heart broken when I heard the tragic news. I will miss him giving me a hard time about my computer issues and hearing him say "DeAnna, DeAnna, DeAnna what have you done now?" It just won't be the same without him in the building and on the other end of the phone.
You are in my thoughts and prayers

I remember Ray as the one who was still there at 6:30 PM at night to show me our computer facilities when I first visited Core Labs. Every time I attended a training class in Houston, he could always be counted on to come up with that extra computer or network wire needed at the last minute.
I sat next to Ray in a training class last year. Whenever he had to leave to tend to a problem, on his return he would sneak a peek at my computer screen to catch up. All we had to do was visit his office and look at his wall filled with training class certificates to see his commitment to continuous improvement.
But certificates were not all you saw when you visited Ray?s office, there were also many family pictures. When I talked with Ray I always took away with me two things ? how much he loved his family and how proud he was to be a Canadian.
