There are no words to fully express the loss of one we all have loved and cherished so.
Ray (and Rejeane) were a fixture in our cherished neighborhood of Falcon Ave. Always a wave or shout hello to all of us passing by. It was difficult not to stop on our way and check in with Ray as he held court from his front perch. A heart so filled with the love of life, family and friends, yet most of all his love of the Lord!
I remember back to one visit I had with Ray when he was first taken ill at the Riverside Hospital back in the late 1980's (I believe) - sitting outside in the warm summer breeze we sat there for what seemed like hours. Conversation flowed easily as we ruminated upon life. His immense love and pride he held towards his children and later his role as grandfather. But I was so honored to hear of his life story and times with his cherished bride, Mother of his children and best friend - life partner, Rejeane.
Seeing them together bantering back and forth was heartwarming and a testimony of two souls together as one.
I could write volumes of Ray's humor, love of his cottage, philosophy of life and his life path. A path he rode with great gusto.
Yet most of all he was one of the good ones. The Falcon Ave alumnus has lost yet another of its own - sadly as time marched onward and many years have passed. I shall cherish the memories I have of those years. Of Ray on his tractor chugging from driveway to driveway clearing out the nights snowfall. And finally I shall always retain the image of Ray driving home in the early eve - arm out his drivers side window waving with a broad smile calling out 'Hey girl!' Leaving a warm feeling behind as he and his blue truck and matching trailer set off into the sunset of life.
Good Bye my friend and may the Lord hold you under his wings and in his loving arms as you go to the place where there is abounding joy. Well done oh good and faithful servant!
Say hi to the Falcon Ave Crew for us my chum.
