Raymond Prescott Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 22, 2025.
We joyfully celebrate the life of our beloved Father, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Raymond Prescott, who left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He lived an extraordinary life by valuing the ordinary. His gentle and determined steps built a beautiful life. A proud Oregonian through and through, he touched many lives with his warmth, willingness to lend a hand, and unwavering love for his family.

Ray served his country with honor in World War II, embodying bravery and dedication. After the war, he pursued a rewarding career as a tugboat pilot, where his love for the water and his steadfastness guided him through many journeys.

Family was his greatest treasure. As a devoted father to five children, he instilled in them the values of integrity, hard work, and kindness. As a grandfather, he shared tenderness, stories of the "good 'ol days", and endless wisdom. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Ray's legacy is one of love, resilience, and a deep connection to his roots. He will be remembered for his big grin, willingness to lend a hand, passion for building projects, and his unwavering love for his family and friends. You rarely saw him without his toolbelt.

A celebration of Ray's life will be held at 2:00pm on March 23, 2025 at Coos Bay History Museum - 1210 N Front St. Coos Bay, OR, where we will gather to honor and remember the incredible man he was.

Rest in peace, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa. Your legacy of love will continue to guide and inspire us. As we say goodbye, we find comfort in knowing you're piloting your tug, the Blanco, onto a new project. If you're on board, no doubt a cribbage board will appear, alongside your big grin, long arm wave, and a heart full of peace. As we wave goodbye one last time, know that a piece of you will forever remain in our hearts.
