It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Raymond P. Roesch, who passed on September 27th, 2018. Ray was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1939 and lived there for most of his life- although a few years living in Maryland ignited in him a lifelong love of all things "crab," and it kept him going back every summer to the beach in Ocean City. Ray, a graduate of LaRoche college, enjoyed a long and successful career in sales and management, highlights include Xerox Corp, Motor Freight Express, BeeKim Corp and finally launching his own business, Industrial Maintenance Products Co working up until his retirement this July. The top-performing roles in his life, however, were husband and father. These were the jobs he took most seriously, got the most joy from, and was the very best at. Ray spent the majority of his free time plotting a way to escape into the woods, to find a new stream to fish or a new spot for his tree stand. An avid outdoorsman, he was active during his life, and belonged to several Sportsmans clubs, Pittsburgh's German Club, and enjoyed many a Wednesday night at the Pittsburgh Banjo Club. Any additional free time was spent brainstorming practical jokes, and thinking of new ways to cook what you just made for him to eat. Ray is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathryn (Enright) Roesch; and is survived by his children, Elizabeth Petsch and son-in-law Christopher, Michael Roesch and daughter-in law Stephanie; his grandsons Elliott and Oliver Petsch; and his sister Claire Johnson. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, to please make a donation to your favorite charity, or to continue his own charitable annual tradition of adopting a family at Thanksgiving (his favorite holiday) and providing all the groceries for their holiday meal. Family and friends received at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Maria Goretti Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, 300 Edmond Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15224 on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.

I am so very sorry to hear of Ray's passing. I always looked forward to his visits to DeBor Funeral Home, with those visits eventually turning into a time for us to share coffee and stories. He would often provide french pastries for the office to enjoy, and there was always a joke to be told. I wish to extend my sincere sympathy to his family and friends, of whom he always spoke with such great fondness. He will be greatly missed and remembered for all the wonderful qualities he possessed.

Saddened to hear of Ray's passing; my condolence to his family. Ray was one of a kind, down to earth and accepting. He was full of life and joy, especially when speaking of his late wife Kathryn and grand children and playing the banjo. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

He was a great man and so loved. If the universe is as it should be There will be an entire section of heaven full of people who have never heard any of his jokes before. He will tell his jokes to a whole new audience and kitty will roll her eyes and be right by his side.

So sad to hear that Mr Roesch passed. What a perfect photo of Ray! That's how I will remember him....always smiling with that mischievous twinkle in his eye hoping to pull a practical joke. God Bless you Mr. Roesch & family.
