We announce the passing of Real Rousseau at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia at the age of 84. Real is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Hilary, and his daughter, Simone Rousseau. He is also survived by his sisters Claire Cote-Rousseau (Roger) and Huguette Rousseau, his nieces Lucie and Suzanne Cote and nephew Francois Cote of Montreal, Quebec. Real was born in Montreal, Quebec. He started out in the garment industry based in Montreal. He moved on to Household Finance Corporation. His long term career was as an executive with Laurentide Financial Corporation and later National Bank of Canada. His career took him to all areas of Canada, and to the Bahamas and Jamaica. In the mid 1980's he was a consultant for Commonwealth Bank in the Bahamas. His family enjoyed many extended stays in Nassau over the years. Real was an experienced traveler covering the Caribbean, Europe, the Soviet Union and the South Pacific. In 1974 Real settled in Vancouver. He enjoyed a healthy west coast life style and spending time with his family and friends. He spent many years sailing from the San Juan's to north of Desolation Sound, skiing at Whistler and riding his bike on the seawall. Real was an accomplished artist particularly in watercolours and pen and ink. Real will be sincerely missed by his many close friends and family. We will always remember him with great fondness for his warmth and sense of humour. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club, 1630 West 15th Avenue, Vancouver, on Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation to St. Paul's Hospital Foundation or the BC Lung Association.
