To Dr Byrd's children and family: I pray that you will have the peace of God continue to be with you. I am so thankful that Dr Byrd invited me to become part of the Hemoc family. I Am still there getting to see the results of her love and compassion to the children and their families. Angela R.

Rest in peace, Dr. Byrd. Thank you for your kindness and care, thank you for curing me of cancer, thank you for innovating in the field so I could be a part of a new trial that avoided radiation, thank you for making a hard time in my life something I grew strength from and didn't fear - because you were my doctor. I now have a son on my own. I pray if he ever has to go through something like I did he has a doctor like you.

Dr. Byrd was a wonderful teacher and mentor to me when I was a resident at CHKD. She was a compassionate physician and a fierce advocate for her patients. I remember when she had her children and how happy she was.
For me she was an example of combining a career in pediatrics and being a mother.
My deepest condolences to you, her family.
May her memory be a blessing to you.

Twenty-five years ago, I was working at EVMS; my fiancée at the time was diagnosed with ALL. Becky, who I met through Bill, helped us as we progressed through her treatment. Becky help me and Lori cope with the new reality. Her touching comments, gifts, and advice helped us through a very difficult time. My memories of Becky are some of the most touching memories I have and I have thought of her often since those difficult times 25 years ago. Becky has left quite a legacy.

So sad, to read this----so many lives were touched by this gentle Doctor.
I remember when she first came into CHKD, under Dr.Marcia Warfield---she looked like a fairy-tale princess! But beyond her appearance, she was a strong, reassuring support, to not only her patients, but all of their parents & loved ones.
My condolences to all of her family, and know how much she was loved and appreciated----
