Rebecca Ann Kelley Peppers

Rebecca Ann Kelley Peppers, affectionately known as Becky, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, in Gadsden, Alabama, at the age of 69.

Becky spent her early years traveling across Germany and the United States with her parents and sister. As a "Military Brat," these experiences nurtured her love of learning and appreciation for diverse cultures. She graduated from Oceanside High School in California in 1974 and later earned an associate degree in electronics from Gadsden State Community College. Becky continued her education at Jacksonville State University, where she earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

A gifted cartographer, Becky dedicated her career to modernizing maps for state, county, and city governments throughout Alabama. Her work left a lasting impact on the communities she served until her retirement in 2010.

Becky found joy in many creative pursuits. She loved crocheting gifts for loved ones, reading mystery novels, solving puzzles, and spending craft days with her sisters. She also played the clarinet and held a deep appreciation for music and theater. Time with family brought her the greatest happiness.

She is survived by her children, Audrey Peppers and Gilbert Peppers; her sister, Donna (Mark) King; and her sisters-in-law Lynda (Tim) Warren, Joyce Vaughn, Diane (Dencil) Smith, Marsha Peppers, and Dean Peppers. Becky also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry her memory forward.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Kennith Peppers; her parents, Wayne and Barbara Kelley; mother-in-law, Velma Peppers; brothers-in-law Tony Peppers and Michael Leeth; sister-in-law Kathryn "Tiny" Farlow; and lifelong friends, Robbie Hillie and Linda Coon.

A private celebration of life will be held in her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lions Club of Gadsden or Reach Out and Read Alabama.
