Rebecca Burg Richards

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Rebecca Burg Richards who left this life on February 28, 2026, at the age of 73. She was a cherished wife to her husband Joseph McCain Richards for over 48 years. She was known for unwavering kindness, generosity, spirit, and joyful sense of humor.

Rebecca was born on June 30, 1952, in Fredericksburg, TX. She was the daughter of Clifton Walter Burg and Mildred Mae Bradshaw Burg. Her parents predeceased her.

Rebecca attended Stonewall Elementary and Middle School. Rebecca was the Valedictorian of Fredericksburg High School Class of 1970. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) in 1974. She was a teacher for several years in Corpus Christi.

She married her husband Joseph, on July 23, 1977. They spent their entire married life in Corpus Christi, TX where he survives her.

Rebecca is also survived by her two sisters and brother- Beverly Burg Anderson (Mark), Lubbock, TX; Bobby W. Burg, Fredericksburg, TX; Barbara Burg Cook (King), Bryan, TX. She is also survived by her husband Joseph's brother Terry Richards (Mary Dean), New Braunfels, TX and sister Lucy Richards Hedrick (Joe), Corpus Christi, TX, she is also predeceased by Joseph's brother Blaine Richards; and survived by several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
