Regina (Jeanne) Kovach, Age 80

Born January 13, 1943 to Francis and Jane Maher of Philadelphia, Jeanne graduated from Saint Hubert Academy and was soon employed at the Al Paul Lefton Company, an advertising agency in Philadelphia.

In 1963, Jeanne married Albert ("Al") F. Kovach, an industrial engineer at The Budd Company in Philadelphia.

Al's career took the family to Birmingham, Michigan, where they raised and educated their three children, Al Jr., David, and Kari. While there, Jeanne enjoyed playing tennis and golf, as well as attending many, many swim meets. All three children became competitive college swimmers. Jeanne was always ready to help a friend in need, including helping to manage a Scandia Down shop in Birmingham.

Al retired as President and Chief Operating Officer of The Budd Company in 2003, after which, they enjoyed world travel. Jeanne continued to be an avid golfer and bridge enthusiast at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. Jeanne and Al then followed their children to the West Coast, settling in Coronado, where Jeanne was an active participant in water aerobics and bridge.

Jeanne was thrilled to spend time with her grandchildren.

Jeanne is remembered by her family and friends for her warmth, smile and sense of humor.

On August 18, Jeanne passed away from a blood disorder. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Albert of Coronado, children Albert Jr. and wife Magaly of Coronado, David of Los Angeles, Kari of Coronado, and granddaughters Noonie and Yesenia. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Wycis, and brothers Francis and Anthony Maher.

Memorial services and a celebration of Jeanne's life will be announced shortly.

Jeanne was always a special person from a wonderful close family. Lots of great memories and laughs when I remember the times I spent with Kathy and Jeanne.

Aunt Jeanne had the wonderful Irish gift of great story telling!! She always found, and shared, the humor in even the simplest things in life. I can hear her voice and her laughter looking at her beautiful smile in this lovely picture posted. My deepest condolences to the family and all her friends. She was a special woman whose spirit will remain in our hearts forever.

I moved to Philadelphia in 1971. Jeanne was one of the first people I met. She welcomed my family into her family, introduced me to her friends. Made my husband and I part of "the group".
I loved her and we remained life long friends. Jeanne possessed great character, humor and, well, she was just a beautiful spirit. God Bless Jeanne. I miss her
