MORRISON, Reginald August 14, 1931 - May 3, 2018 Reg Morrison passed away on May 3, 2018 at Spruce Manor Special Care Home in Dalmeny, SK. Reg was born in Melfort on August 14, 1931. He was the youngest child of six siblings. He was predeceased by his Father George, Mother Florence, five siblings, Clifford, Earl, Fred, Dorothy, and Alice. Special regard is given to his elder bother Earl who sacrificed his young 24 year old life defending freedom in Italy during WWII. Reg very much missed the 58 year love of his life Ellsa Morrison (nee Redenbach) since her passing on September 26, 2013. Reg is survived by daughter Carla, her children Braeden and Laurena; son Mark and wife Brenda, and two sons Kelly and Konrad; daughter Patti, and her son Tom; and daughter Joan, and partner Kevin. Reg spent 38 years of his adult life with the Royal Bank. He retired in 1986 as a Bank Manager in Saskatoon. During his career Reg and Ellsa made many long term Saskatchewan friendships in the towns they called home. Reg was a man that always gave of his time freely to be part of various community associations, boards, and charity groups. Upon retiring Reg and Ellsa explored their passion for travel. When they had some down time they loved to do some quick cross-border shopping. These were the happiest days of their lives together. Reg was a man that had a mischievous side. He always found new and unusual ways to have fun, spread cheer, and ensure a good laugh. It could mean wearing Easter egg grass for hair to scare the grandkids, or show up at his daughter's friend's shower disguised as a woman to liven things up. One year he dressed up as Santa to greet his daughter arriving at the airport for Christmas. He found he loved being Santa so much that it became a passion for many years during retirement. He became an unpaid professional Santa for many appreciative families, children, and groups. If he wasn't being Santa for his grandkids, it was for their school, and sometimes even the unsuspecting special needs care home down the street. In his fifties Reg discovered a passion for playing hockey again and was instrumental in working with others to develop the Seniors league in Saskatoon. Reg and Stan Halliwell were recognized in 2013 for this achievement with "The Golden Heart Award" by the McClure Place Foundation. It was for their contribution to the 60-plus hockey league. Recently they were both inducted into the 80-plus Hockey Hall of Fame under the "Founder" category in Ottawa, Ontario. Reg played hockey until he was 82 years old! His family will miss his zest for life, and his very large, and generous heart. He is now with God enjoying his new world in heaven with his beloved wife Ellsa. Memorial Service will be held at the Dalmeny Funeral Home, 139 3rd Street, Dalmeny SK at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. A come and go tea at the Dalmeny Bible Church to follow. Donations can be made in Reg's honour to Spruce Manor Special Care Home, Box 190, Dalmeny, SK S0K 1E0. Arrangements entrusted to DALMENY FUNERAL HOME 306-254-2022.
