You will be missed on the squash courts. Your determination and will on the courts exemplified all that you did. RIP Rein

Professor Luus's lectures were always inspirational (never late for one.) His enjoyment was infectious. For those of us also playing squash, he was encouraging. Thank you for the memories Professor Luus.

I am shocked to hear that Prof. Luus passed away. He was a source of inspiration to me as an engineer who took his Mathematical Methods in Engineering graduate level course. He was passionate about his subject and his eyes shone with a gleam of enjoyment at talking about mathematics and this made me determined to succeed. I hope that his soul rests in peace and his influence on my engineering career lives on. - Gayathri B. Seetharam

Although I graduated in chemical engineering from Queen´s University, I very much enjoyed the differential equations course taught by Professor Luus at U of T. I recall receiving the first Luus buck during the first lecture of the term. To the family, it is important to me that you know how sorry and saddened I am to hear of the Professor´s passing. I will always remember him fondly, and extend to you my sincere condolences for your loss.

Professor Luus taught me when I was a student in the chemical engineering option of Engineering Science in the late 80s. I remember him well and fondly, he was a great instructor and well-liked by all. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Prof Luus was my Differential Equations professor - he was brilliant! I wish I had kept my “Luus Bucks” which he would give out to students foe finding an error in his work and could be exchange foe 1 percentage on your final mark! I also have vivid memories of him playing the violin on the last day of classes before exams while wearing “I survived the San Francisco Earthquake of 1989”.
RIP Prof Luus

Rein lived in my condo complex but we met more often in the park where we both loved to feed the squirrels. His favourite thing to say as we passed by on the path was that the squirrels were very hungry today. I feed them No Name peanuts while Rein often gave them walnuts in the shell. I will miss seeing him in the park and having our occasional chats.

I’ll miss our friendly chats at University of Toronto meetings. It was always fun to see his reaction when I would intentionally make an incorrect and adverse comment about Princeton. We had some good laughs together. Rest in peace, Rein.

I will miss you so very much Rein after so many years of sharing the 'park' with you and chatting ... I had only just met your son Brian, not too long ago as you walked together in the 'park' one day. It was delightful to see the two of you together. Rein, you were a remarkable man and I feel blessed to have known you. I'm sending my prayers and blessings to your Family. Tomorrow, I'll buy some unshelled walnuts for the squirrels and feed them in your Memory.
